Kicked in the pocketbook

U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA 04) was the lead Democrat on a measure that passed the U.S. House of Representatives today to restrict funding for the Army Corps of Engineers (the Corps) to enforce a gun ban on land they own and operate.

Not a fan all of Altmire’s positions, but he usually comes out on the pro-rights side when the Second Amendment is involved. Glad to live in his district.

I know folks who live on the shore of a “Corps of Engineers” lake.

You’ll not meet a more inept group of brownshirts than the “Corps of Engineers.”

They make decisions with no consistency. They enforce regulations capriciously. They change regulations, and don’t inform anybody, and then hold you accountable for not abiding by the regulations that they changed and didn’t inform anybody about.

And God help you if you get on their bad side.

The best, and I do mean BEST cartoons portraying the “Corps of Engineers” are from the late, great George Fisher of the Arkansas Gazette.

Fisher always drew the Corps as wearing pith helmets, safari shirts and shorts, and always wearing an enormous button on their shirts that read KEEP BUSY!

Leave us not overlook the fact that the Corps of Engineers does not OWN any land.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
