Eric Holder Mentions Project Gunrunner Two Years Ago
Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion. DHS is making similar commitments, as Secretary Napolitano will detail.
No mention of the project’s more dubious operations, like allowing guns into Mexico.

Can we stop using the words “allow”, “allowed” and “allowing”? It is increasingly clear that our government arranged the purchases, bought the guns and sent them into Mexico in an attempt to pin blame on American’s rights. We are the ones who allowed all that to happen by allowing the very existence, right here in the U.S., of an organization dedicated specifically to infringing upon a constitutionally enumerated right.

Holy crap! If we had actual journalists in this country, this would be the lead story on every news show and Holder would be gone be the weekend.

Well, a sane person would assume that Operation “Gunrunner” would be designed to *catch* gunrunners, not make their jobs easier.
The federal government: you don’t have to be crazy to work here, but it helps.

If Justice is posting this as news they’re really trying to arrange for some ex-post-facto “we knew it all along” cover to be picked-up by the MSM…

A heated discussion on this subject last night got me chasing the rabbit down the hole.

This has the link to the Holder speech but the link didn’t work. I had to search to find it.
The link itself brags about receiving ARRA “stimulus” funding.
According to the ATF Project Gunrunner started out as an internet database, eTrace in 2006. The details of eTrace are mortifying.

Am I missing something? Doesn’t this pretty much PROVE that Holder knew about this whole thing (and approved of it) way back in 2009? I think it’s time for him to come clean.
I hereby call for Holder’s resignation!
Cause… you know… they will really listen to me right? I mean, I AM a us citizen and all.

BUSTED mother#@(*^&. You just lied to Congress!

Even minus this,, it’s been made pretty plain that Holder knew about it looooong before he claimed he did when testifying. This just acts as more solid evidence.
Yeah, you are, but they’re too busy trying to get clemency for a rapist/murderer in Texas to worry about things like how they’ve gotten people killed in this mess.

Lyle.
You nailed it! Very well said!
Just a few months ago, Atty Gen Holder and Sec of St. Clinton were openly admitting the pretext for this in saying that guns being sold legally to U.S. ciitzens were the source the violence in Mexico and over our border.

There is enough evidence now to prosecute Holder for perjury and obstruction of justice at this point. If he skates through this it will only be by a miracle.

Somebody has a lot of ‘splaining to do!

Obama signed the stimulus act in 2009 that paid for Gunrunner…

Markie Marxist sez: “Okay! So he knew! But he didn’t know know, you know? You see, if he knew that’s bad, but it’s not as bad as if he really knew, which would be much worse, and since he didn’t know know, it’s not so bad, so it’s okay. You see, it all makes sense if you just take a common communist sense approach to it like that.”

“For an additional amount for ‘State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance’, $40,000,000, for competitive grants to provide assistance and equipment to local law enforcement along the Southern border and in High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas to combat criminal narcotics activity stemming from the Southern border, of which $10,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner.”

I second what Lyle said, we need to say “arranged for guns to be shipped to Mexican bandits.”

I don’t think we’ve seen the bottom of this rat hole yet…

Break the backs of the cartels? Is that why the cartels are laughing so hard at the US? Holder would be a joke at best, but hundreds of people dead from Gunwalker are no joke.
If the Obama administration is so concerned about respecting the rights of Mexicans as to intervene in that death penalty case in Texas where a Mexican national raped and murdered a girl, then they should have no problem with sending Holder to Mexico to stand trial on charges of gun smuggling and being an accessory to the murders that resulted from his murderous Gunwalker project. Holder is a mass murderer and he should be held accountable for that where most of his victims were killed.
I recall that a US citizen spent time in a Mexican prison, merely for driving across the border with some shotgun shells inadvertantly left in the trunk. Organizing a program of arming criminals that resulted in hundreds of Mexicans being murdered should at least merit a modest fine. A few hundred Mexican lives should be worth at least the cost of a parking ticket, maybe? Yeah, I know. Not likely. Ever.

Chas – maybe they were trying to break them financially by overcharging for the guns we sold them.

It all depends on how you define the word “is”.
