Poll Cat

Pew has this poll on your news IQ. I, along with 2% of those taking the test, got all answers correct. Though, I confess, I made an educated guess on the obesity question. This, and I don’t watch TV news or read any newspapers regularly. I get my news from blogs and other internet sources.

The score distribution is pretty sad, kinda like Leno’s jay-walking.

Missed one: the obesity question. I don’t have a TeeWee or get the paper, and get all of my news through blogs and other internet sources as well.

  2. BobG Says:

    All correct.

  3. Jennifer Says:

Like you, I got them all correct. And I also don’t watch the news. The distribution is sad, but not surprising.

  4. alan Says:

    11/11 Interesting distribution.

11/11. Don’t have broadcast or cable or satellite. Haven’t watched a “news” program or read a “news” paper in 20 years. As Jennifer said: sad, but not surprising distribution.

  6. Canthros Says:

10/11. I thought we were paying more on debt interest than on Medicare. I guess that’s still a few years off.

  7. Magus Says:

    11/11

Put me in the same category as y’all. I don’t watch the news, read any newspapers, and get my news from blogs and other internet sites.

One caveat to that, I have been known to have Fox daytime on as background noise. At least until Megyn Kelly got pregnant and started flaking out.

  8. DirtCrashr Says:

I missed the medicare one too… I thought more money was spent servicing the debt – isn’t Medicare a part of the debt?

  9. Mr Evilwrench Says:

I was in the 7% (the good 7%). Glad I’m not alone on the Medicare thing. Never watch a thing, just read the blogs. Must say something.

  10. The Duck Says:

    9/11 Obesity, Medicare got me

  11. fucema Says:

11/11 , guessed on the obesity question.

  12. Stormy Dragon Says:

    11/11 Guessed on obesity

  13. Stormy Dragon Says:

I thought more money was spent servicing the debt – isn’t Medicare a part of the debt?

I think they meant actual current spending, not future liabilities incurred.

  14. Ian Argent Says:

11/11 guessed on obesity, and was spoiled for the debt question here. Never watch news and rarely go to MSM sites unless looking at a specific article link.

  15. Keith Says:

11/11. I thought they were pretty easy. I can’t believe that the distribution is that bad. I guess us bitter clingers aren’t the gap-tooth hillbillies that the media makes us out to be.

  16. JT Says:

10/11 Guessed wrong on the obesity question.

  17. Gun Blobber Says:

11/11. The obesity one wasn’t hard, the choices were 10/25/50. I knew it was more than 10%, less than 50%, must be 25%. (If I had to guess without any choices, I would have said 20%.) I’m pretty sure around 50%-60% are categorized as overweight, however (which includes the 25% obese).

Medicare+medicaid (they should have been more specific) is presently 23% of the budget, Social Security is 20%, war/defense is 20%, while interest is only 6%. We are drowning in the costs of keeping people healthy. (A good proportion of the DoD’s budget is healthcare-related as well.)

  18. mariner Says:

    10/11.

I thought we spent more on servicing the debt than Medicare; I see I had some good company.

  19. rick Says:

    11/11. Guessed on obesity too.

  20. Hans Says:

10/11, got bit on the debt question.

  21. Gordon R. Durand Says:

11/11. Don’t you wish a score of six or better was required to vote?

  22. Sarah Says:

11/11 and yet another guess on obesity.

I watch FOX News. Other than that, it’s the Internet for info, including their Web site.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
