Quote of the Day

Got caught up on Justified last night. It’s a good show that has probably the best gun handling I’ve seen on TV. Characters even correct other characters for bad gun handling. Any way, this exchange happened:

Arlo: If you was me, you’d be loading your guns too
Raylan: My guns are always loaded.

Yeah, Justified is my favorite followed by Law and Order LA and Chicago code….

  2. aeronathan Says:

Ever since I started watching Justified, I have a burning desire to name a son Raylan. Scary thing is the wife is onboard …

  3. John Richardson Says:

It is one of the best shows on TV. I heard it was picked up for the third season. I can’t wait.

  4. OHIO SHAWN Says:

Awesome show, got into halfway through 1st season. I watch it when it comes on instead of letting the DVR record it, no other show on TV gets my attention like that.

  5. Calvin Says:

Unfortunately they do the ‘glock safety’ noise when he draws it. Otherwise not a bad show.

  6. Drake Says:

I appreciated Doyle Bennett’s usage of a Python.

  7. Pathfinder Says:

    @aeronathan –

If your wife is anything like the other women I know who watch Justified (and swoon), she probably thought of it first and subliminally planted the thought in your head!

Good show, a little disappointed in the firefight where in a car door apparently IS cover and not just concealment from multiple automatic small arms. OTOH, Raylan did take a slug, so maybe not.

  8. RWC Says:

It was already in the glass, not in the jar.

    😛

  9. kaveman Says:

Anyone know if season 1 is out on DVD yet?

  10. John Richardson Says:

@Kaveman: Season 1 is out on DVD. I have seen it at Target, Amazon, and (I think) Wally World.

  11. Paul Says:

My wife thought Justified was to violent. I watched it from day one. Now she is hooked on it.

I just love the way Raylan plays rough. Sadly he isn’t a good H2H fighter but he makes up for that with his gun. Glock 20 and 27 from what I can make out.

He got rid of that sissy flashy gun in the first show, I think cause Tommy Lee Jones said something about sissy guns and Glocks working everytime.

My wife and I are halfway through the first season of DVDs via Netflix. Gotta say that I really look forward to the next disc coming in the mail!

  13. Beaumont Says:

I may have to check this show out.

  14. ErnestM Says:

In season 1, he tells a judge that he carries a .45 Glock, so that would be a 21 and 30 or 36. Real world Marshals are issued Glock 22’s in .40 I believe.

Season 1 also has a great quote. From the pilot…

“If you make me pull, I’ll put you down.”

  15. ExUrbanKevin Says:

The show’s based off an original idea by Elmore Leonard (who’s an executive producer), the showrunner and head writer worked on Band Of Brothers, and it’s got Timothy Oliphant as lead. What’s not to love?

The writing is TOP NOTCH, the characters are memorable and well-rounded, the acting is first-rate, and yes, the gunplay is first-rate.

“Give me one reason why I should come up there and kick the living s**t out of you.”

“I’ll give you 15 reasons in the mag, and one in the chamber.”

Note: He said “mag” and not “clip”. Such a joy to hear the right words!

  16. Gnarlysheen Says:

Had seen an advertisement for it but never actually got a chance to watch it. Thanks for the heads-up, added the first season to my Netflix queue 🙂

  17. JT Trujillo Says:

My fave quote-Wynonna, Raylan’s ex asks him after he returns to his room after a bar fight where he lost his Stetson-“Aren’t you too old to be fighting?”
Raylan-“Certainly to old to be losing!”

  18. Paul Says:

But hey guys.. what about Boyd! I mean you gotta love him. Anti-hero he is.

  19. Axess Denyd Says:

Hmmm, I may have to give the show another shot. I watched the first episode and just got really annoyed at the white supremacists who seemed to make up a significant population of the Justified world. Probably only that episode.

Good to have a show actually set in Kentucky though, I’m a Bowling Green native who lived and worked in Lexington for a while, before moving to an area where I’m surrounded by Yankees–southern Ohio.

  20. aeronathan Says:

@Pathfinder: You could be right now that you mention it. She has been talking about me getting a stetson and some cowboy boots too LOL

  21. mariner Says:

Well, the villains can’t be black or Hispanic or Muslim …

  22. Mike V Says:

Besides the gun handling and terminology, I like it because the mountain accents and speech in general remind me of my grandparents and older mountain people (I’ve heard it refered to as “The Kings Speech”). Sadly you have to go deep into the hollers to hear it these days.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
