Flashbang Holster: Video
Yesterday, I mentioned the Flashbang holster that attaches to a bra. Well, Mattew found video of it in action:
I’m kinda meh about the holster. But I do love the name, which judging from the video it doesn’t live up to.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

That’s great, but unlike a conventional holster that shot is from the hip.

False advertising! And also, it looks to have the gun pointed at your chin on the draw…

But she’s got one heck of a rack. Why is the idiot showing us the timer, I’d rather see her holster the gun . . . for purely safety reasons of course (see Ed’s comment above) 🙂

It seems as if she’s sweeping her left arm and chest area…..

Seems like a good way to shoot yourself in the chest. I like the idea but not the practical application.

I don’t think I have enough, um…overhang to conceal anything with that holster. Not for every woman, that’s for sure. Also, I’m not real comfortable with the idea of the muzzle being pressed into the underside of my boob all day.

This is the second such chest-mounted holster I’ve seen for women in the past few months, and both have the exact same problem of pointing the weapon at the heart during draw and re-holstering. This is a defective product by design, and will lead to someone getting killed… if the company lasts that long.

Next time put some safety glass on the lady.

I think to make the draw ‘safe’ you’d have to draw as the name implies and Hackathorn rip the shirt up high enough so that your arm and elbow are parallel to the ground above muzzle level.
That’d make it more or less like a cornered cat shoulder holster draw, but with more PG-13 goodness.

You can see the concern they have for safety by the way they protect her eyes.
May 5th, 2011 at 12:34 pm
I wish I could see exactly what she sweeps on draw better … and not just for purient purposes … uh, really.
But they don’t show a reholster at all.
Can’t recommend.

Here is another vid that shows the holster. Looks like it points at your arm not your chin. Still not sure if it is a good idea. The phrase “wardrobe malfunction” comes to mind.

I dunno, if it lays flat against the chest parallel to the ground it may sweep your arm as you walk but, if the trigger guard is covered, so what? It’s no worse than appendix carry.
If the gun barrel is parallel to the ground and she lifted her left hand and elbow up above the muzzle there’s no reason it would cover anything during the draw, as long as she indexed her thumb to the body until the muzzle came forward for the press out, like a cross or shoulder draw.
From looking at the video it’s the desire for modesty that’s causing the hand to have to go up and in under the shirt then back down and out at an angle covering the upper chest and arm.
Get the shirt clear and go in and out parallel to the ground and it’d be safe I think.
This is a pretty deep cover holster, I think the proper “reholster difficulty” comparison should be something like a pocket or ankle holster, not belt or even a shoulder. You aren’t going to do it successfully without two hands and paying attention anyway.
Just my considered opinions (buttressed by my innate need to play devil’s advocate) anyway.

Looks like a really effective mode of concealment, particularly for those who are well endowed.
May 5th, 2011 at 4:16 pm
You all are assuming too much…. The gun is never pointed at her heart. The gun lies flat against the chest and is drawn straight down. As far as sweeping the arm, I guess it is as possible as sweeping the leg when drawing from the hip! you would also sweep much more from a shoulder rig. If she was showing exactly how the draw would be used, it would not be able to be published on Facebook. 😉
As far as reholstering, this is a deep concealment holster. Reholstering is not a major concern after use, but it can still be done, albeit not as easy as a duty rig!

Did that gun jam?
May 5th, 2011 at 8:56 pm
Reminds me of the the old “Thunder Wear” crotch holsters. Maybe okay if you were a Cop working Deep Under Cover, but for EDC? But I guess it’s a free country (in some places)…

Would she still be as fast if the shirt was wet? If it ain’t rainin’ it ain’t trainin’.
May 7th, 2011 at 10:16 am
Yeah, what Matt C. said. Obviously this is for a back-up gun, not a primary carry one. It’d have to be some kind of mouse gun pocket pistol, too. Anything larger wouldn’t work, unless the lady also wears double-Ds. The lady in this video is in the “goldilocks” range…not too small, not too big but just right, and nice stretched hour-glass figure to match.
May 7th, 2011 at 3:21 pm
More training needed. She muzzles her left hand every time she re-holsters. Not lifting the shirt high enough slows the draw a lot. It’s possible she CAN’T lift it higher with only one hand, though. Tight fitting shirt. Is that a 9mm, or .380?
