Tactical Suspenders

The comfort sling. I like the idea but it’s just one more thing to strap on in the morning.

I like the concept a whole lot. I wonder how well it works with an IWB holster.

Um…. That looks like it would print through a shirt like nobody’s business.

If you are going to have a shoulder holster, wear a shoulder holster. Or get a decent, purpose built belt to carry the handgun correctly.

I wore suspenders for the better part of the last year, while I was carrying: it’s much more comfortable than slapping my Hi-Power and two mags on my belt alone. Didn’t really have problems with the suspenders printing (AFAIK), but the ones I’ve used are a little lower-profile than the ones those guys are selling. Those shoulder pads look large and obvious.

I did run into a couple problems, though. I started with an inexpensive set of Perry-style Y suspenders picked up at Wal-Mart. This worked fine until I got a pair of pants with a wider-than-normal rear belt loop. Since then, I’ve started carrying a couple spare magazines in the back, which the Y suspenders aren’t going to get along with, regardless.

I’ve also tried some side clip suspenders from Duluth Trading. Those worked about as well for load-carrying, but interfered with my holster and draw, so that’s a no-go. They did seem to be less obvious, though.

Seems like a good idea to me, but I don’t know if I like the implementation.

How much weight are you carrying on your belt every day that you need to transfer load to your shoulders? It’s a 2 to 3 pound gun and couple of mags. Buy a good thick belt that fits.

  5. Canthros Says:

I have “a good think belt that fits”. Cinched sufficiently tight, it even keeps my pants up. It can be a mite uncomfortable, though.

Anyway, I gave up on suspenders. The belt alone works fine and, as I indicated above, the suspenders were getting in the way.

  6. Hartley Says:

Looks like a great idea to me (those of us with “Dunlap” midsections have a hard time making a belt hold up all the weight comfortably) but the implementation looks waaay too thick/bulky to conceal – and I wonder if those buckles and sewn joints wouldn’t tend to dig in when you sit in the car..

As one who has mega problems keeping trousers up without carrying, much less with pounds of weapon/ammo, any solution is going to get at least a once over by me. I’ve used regular suspenders (X type, not the Y type referenced above) and “tailor’s helpers” under belts to this point.

The obvious thing ccwcomfortsling people should do is make the thing in WHITE, not black. Otherwise, for guys like me that have more and more problems keeping trousers up without less than comfortable belt tightening, this think may be a solution.

Looks like it would be real inconvenient when one is preparing to sit on the porcelain throne! If I wanted suspenders to keep my belt from sagging I would just get a normal pair that you wear over your shirt. Lots of people wear belts and suspenders so you wouldn’t be drawing attention to yourself.

These look way too complicated and uncomfortable. I use the Perry Outback suspenders, turning them inside out so the clip fits behind the belt, allowing me to tuck it around the clips. Has worked great with my Frequent Flyer belt for years….
