In Illinois

A push for a concealed carry law.

And once again it will go into Third Reading Hell, where it will be offered for vote to go to Committee, get passed by the committee for a Second Reading, goes through the Second Reading vote and goes back to Committee, then gets passed again in Committee and goes back to the docket for Third Reading, where it is never read and voted on because the Speaker of the House has the privilege of determining what bills get read for a vote. The current Speaker is Michael Madigan, a 40+ year Democrat from Chicago. He hates the idea of concealed carry and as a way to mollify the southern Illinois Democrats who put these bills into the process, he lets the bills get just far enough through the process to say “sorry, we ran out of time. Now you’d better remember to vote for this important bill that issues more state bonds. It’s for the children. Besides, you’re a Democrat from coal country and you can be replaced with someone from the miner’s union if you don’t.”

Unfortunately, the article is a tale told by an elected official; full of sound and fury, signifying nothing but business as usual.

And even if it passes the Legislature, the Governor will veto it, the State Supreme Court will declare it Unconstitutional, then it’ll head for the Federal side. Some Cities hold their States hostage (NYC for New York, L.A. and San Fran. for Cali., Boston for Mass., etc), and the only thing one can do is to move to another State or break the Law. Doubt if you’ll see any crowds around the Cook County Court House demanding their Freedom as is occurring in Cairo.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
