Chicks and guns

I guess the same type offended by this post title would be offended by pink guns.

I’d comment over there, but google has got it all locked down and I ain’t creating a gmail account.

The pink bubblewrap means it’s static safe. Lots of manly (j/k) computer parts come in pink bubblewrap to keep them safe. I have a secret stash of the stuff myself.

  2. Sigivald Says:

How do their little clawed legs hold a gun?

  3. mike w. Says:

Sigivald – Mommabird does it for them. Then when they’re old enough they hold it in their beak.

Let me assure you, as someone who used to work for a gun company, that the number of requests we got for Pink guns was nauseating. We used to make pink guns, and stopped making them, even though they sold well, at the behest of Law Enforcement agencies complaining that they looked like toys… and they did, so we did.

Personally, I can’t fathom why someone would want their firearm to look like something that did not mean business, deadly serious business, but that’s what many women (and some men) DO want. Marketing people are usually not in the business of being offensive and condescending. They do surveys and polls, and if they wasn’t any demand for them, then everybody wouldn’t have pink guns for sale these days, but they do. They are not losing money on Pink guns.

My ex-girlfriend wanted a gun, but she didn’t know what she wanted, till she saw a pink laminated 10/22 at the gunshow. We broke up later, and I immediately sold the hideous thing. The FFL dealer I sold it to resold it in a week. He’d had a conventional 10/22 on the shelf for 4 months.

I got some pink AR-15 carbine furniture for my daughter’s .22 rifle. Pink appeals to little girls, and it enhanced the “it’s just for me” factor she needs when she starts something new.

When she gets older, she can pick whatever color she likes from the Magpul line-up, and the pink stuff will go to the next daddy with a girly shooting partner.

@ matt. Why should a firearm look mean and vicious?? Is it any less deceiving to look like a harmless accountant but be packing heat??? Rather incongruent…

  7. comatus Says:

    “While I’m aware of the color’s history…”

I don’t think so. One hundred years ago, pink was the boys’ color.

  8. breda Says:

Yes, I DO think so, comatus. Should I have inserted the word “recent” in that statement to help you with your reading comprehension?

  9. comatus Says:

Some time ago I comprehended that the word “recent” would make a meaningful insertion to all of your statements. Thanks for the help, though.

  10. alan Says:

Damn, Comatus. Show your ass much?

  11. Breda Says:

I’m sure SayUncle’s readers appreciate you summarizing one of the bullet points on the “100 Years of Pink” chart I so helpfully supplied in my post…perhaps your reading skills are sufficient after all.

    >…on the “100 Years of Pink” chart I so helpfully supplied in my post…

It’s a 39 KB gif, and even with using the standard mischief to zoom in on the image, I can’t read the text.

Did you link to a lower rez version by mistake? squidoo or voltagecreative for the original image?

  13. Standard Mischief Says:

Found the original, or a copy of the original.

  14. Laurel Says:

I think I’m going to have to copycat Breda and get those socks.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
