Some idiot state employee: This is not public property; this is state property.

As far as the state employee being disciplined, get real. No doubt he’s a union goon/employee and will be protected from his own stupidity.

However, a civil rights charge might get his attention: I doubt that his actions were a routine part of his employment with the state – meaning the state would not be required, and should not, pay for his defense, or the judgment. Let the union cover his worthless, ignorant, ass.

  2. Huck Says:

Since the state employee’s name aint mentioned, I have no doubt that NOTHING will be done to him.

  3. ATLien Says:

That’s why true punishment should be caving the state employee’s skull in. No other punishment would be effective.

  4. Chris L. Says:

Ok I live here in Alb, NM and have heard nothing of this incident at all. I went to the KOB website and they don’t have anything on this either. I have asked everyone at my place of employment if they had heard or seen anything on this and they all said no. WTF?!?!?! This is something that should be big news here in this state. The local news stations love this kind of crap. Whats so strange is this should be getting big play here and it’s not. The local news outlets love going after city and state employees for anything and everything. Just this past few weeks we have had trash guys, firefighters ex-elected officials in the news for all kinds of stupid crap. Nothing on this.

  5. Lyle Says:

Well, your business property is “public property” don’t you know? I’ve had customers tell me so. To distinguish “public property” from state property, then, your quoted idiot is correct. In the idiotic, retarded sense.

  6. LKP Says:

I’m a gov’t employee and I can’t believe what those people did. The only reason I would lay my hands on anyone is if they are assaulting me or someone else. Being a government employee does not give you a license to act outside the law. As for the security guard she is probably a rent-a-guard and appears to have no understanding of the law. It would have been one thing if the reporter had crossed the taped off area but he never does. None of those people were law enforcement officers and had no authority to order that reporter around. He never entered a building or a secure area (jail, prison or courthouse).

  7. XYZ Says:

Some years back I had a conversation with an agency-management LEO RE: the county’s decision to install metal detectors and prohibit legal, concealed firearms in the county admin building (Florida Statutes 790.06 do not prohibit licensed CCW in such buildings, and FL does have a preemption statute)). His response: “The county is allowed to enforce what goes on in its buildings just like any property owner.” Unfortunately, someone will have to sue the county to resolve the issue.

  8. Brigid Says:

Someone called me about a case one time, having trouble filling out some Freedom of Information Act stuff. I probably should have routed them to my assistant but the person was frustrated having got this far without getting a real person on the phone that could help, so I helped them for a while, walking them through the website, answering questions, giving them my name as a backup if they had problems.

At the end they said. “What do I owe you”.

I said “you pay for me every single day of your life you paid taxes, I’m just doing my job for you.”

They seemed surprised. Guess that’s not the norm.

  9. Robert Says:

The whole culture of government has the philosophy completely ass-backwards. Who has destroyed the US Bill of Rights? The Taliban or these people?

  10. Ron W Says:

The State government and its agents are to obey, not only the U.S Buill of Rughts, but also the Tennessee Constitution’s Declaration of Rights which are even more numerous and specific than the U.S. Bill of Rights. In the matter of additional rights and the expansion of rights, States actually supercede the U.S. Bill of Rights according to two of the articles; the 9th and 10th Amendments.

It is incumbent on us to demand and enforce that our public officials (employees)obey their oaths to the U.S. and State Constitutions!

  11. chris Says:

Someone needs to post the name and home address of the state employee on a NM newspaper site (comments section would be just fine).

This employee needs to see some free speech exercised outside his home.

And someone needs to send him a book on the French Revolution.

Public building vs. state building reminds me of “L’etat – C’est moi.”

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
