Stuff I didn’t know

There were no semi-auto produced pistols before 1892

Wasn’t 1892 about the time that smokeless powder became generally available? It was tough to impossible to make an autoloading pistol that functioned reliably (for long) with black powder. Cartridges were too big (45ACP approximates the ballistic of the black powder 45 Colt but in a much shorter round) and powder residue too profuse.

Sort of. It took about 10 years of foot dragging before smokeless was accepted by the establishment for pistol cartridges…

Yea black powder does tend to gum up things!

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
