Mexican Pirates

In Texas:

An American tourist was shot in the back of the head in Mexican waters on Thursday after being ambushed by armed boaters, a Texas sheriff said. It happened on a lake where run-ins with pirates had already put fishermen and Texas officials on alert.

Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez said a 30-year-old man and his wife were riding jet skis back from Mexico when about six gunmen approached in two boats. Gonzalez said the man was shot as the couple sped away.

Texans need to start buying some guns and learn to fight.

You know, between stories like this, and the stories about bullets from battles on the Mexican side hitting buildings on the US side, if I were the governor of Texas I would be seriously considering calling out the National Guard and using it to secure areas around the trouble spots – say about 5 miles into Mexico. Capture those areas, declare martial law, and root out the drug cartels. We can talk to the Mexican government about the possibility of returning those areas to Mexico once they’re secured and safe again.

Yes, it would be an invasion of a friendly nation, but these cartels have been endangering US citizens, and now they have killed US citizens. The Mexican government has shown they can’t control these areas, and the US government has repeatedly either ignored the danger or failed to act adequately to protect the citizens of Texas. If the fedgov won’t act appropriately, then the state is obligated to protect its citizens from foreign aggression.

I’d start by not crossing into Mexico in the first place. Then I’d get a cheap SKS or similar and keep it on the jet ski when I’m near the border…

  4. Bubblehead Les Says:

Sounds like it’s time to call up a Naval Reserve Brown Water unit and put some Swift Boats in the lake, since Customs and Border Protections Fancy Dancy new $35,000 Dodge Chargers can’t float.

  5. John Smith. Says:

The reason they have those chargers is that they are such bullet magnets. Every fired round in the area will home in on one of them.

  6. Crotalus Says:

Don’t call the government in on this, Bubblehead. The Feds are totally incompetent in these matters.

It’s too bad that we don’t hear the Rebel Yell and a call for “TAAARGIT PRACTICE!! COME A’RUNNIN!!” on our side of the lake. That should clean out those prates damn quick.

As an old Sailor, I think it’s important to maintain some skill sets for the Future. Besides, this would be one of the few times I’d be happy to see the “Your Federal Tax Dollars at Work” sign. This,of course, does not preclude any Private Citizen to ask a Border Rancher if they could do some Pirate Hunting on the Rancher’s Private Land, as long as all Game Laws were obeyed. Hmmm, what Gun for River Pirates? ; )

  8. Guav Says:

It’s Mexican pirates in Mexico, not in Texas 🙂

  9. Overload in CO Says:

Paddles? We don’t need no stinking paddles!

  10. Gun Blobber Says:

This has come up before. As the article mentions, there have been numerous examples of Americans crossing the border on boats and being robbed by Mexican criminals on boats. I am surprised that there are not warning signs posted all over that lake and any others, warning Americans not to cross over the border.

  11. Rabbit Says:

Oh, what fun one could have if you could lay hands on a Javelin, Les.

  12. Robert Says:

Time for some Q-ships to set sail.

  13. Crotalus Says:

Don’t care, Guav. Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and all that.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
