ATF Raid in TN

Rutherford County:

Federal agents confiscated an arsenal of weapons from a rural Rutherford County home near Bell Buckle on Tuesday.

The ATF confirms agents served a search warrant, but declined to comment about the case.

Sources close to the investigation told NewsChannel 5 agents confiscated an arsenal of weapons including high explosives, fully automatic weapons including AK-47s and Mac-10s, ammunition and gun silencers.

Apparently, the explosives were too unstable to transport. So they set them off in the woods behind the house.

No word on how many kittens were stomped to death?

Must’ve been a disappointing raid. No women or children to massacre.

    From the article:
Everything taken from the home can legally be owned with proper permits. For now we don’t know if the homeowner had those permits.

but we’re going to destroy the property without due process just in case.

Read that as “But the chance to play with Tannerite was just too good to pass up”

    “declined to comment”

Translation: We didn’t actually find anything illegal so hang on a minute while we make something up “administratively.”

If the explosives were truly ‘unstable’, they would have set them off in-situ. They must not have found enough real evidence to justify blowing up the guys house…

Organic peroxides are the staple of people who cook up their own explosives. I wouldn’t want to drive around in a truck with those on board. If *I* ever came across (for example) acetone peroxide during a search, I’d do exactly what these guys did.

Detonation inside a house can cause a whole bunch of shrapnel to end up in the neighbors, then there’s the chance that was a whole lot more explosible stuff hidden in a place you hadn’t discovered yet, which would lead to your in situ detonation being “bigger than anticipated”.

I’d say these guys made the right call.

These are THE VERY SAME agents who conducted a full-ninja raid on a guys house because in the background of a picture he had developed at Walgreen’s, someone noticed a green piece of PVC pipe that looked like a rocket launcher.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
