Glock Gen4 Stuff

Looks like the 9mm may have had issues with the recoil spring. Les Jones sums it up.

is this why some 1911 aficionado’s resist change so much?

As a 1911 man I will defend the Glocksters, if the report is correct. You can’t keep a .45 ACP spring around a 9mm barrel and expect new 1911 to run.

Now why Glock was dumb enough to ship 9mm guns with .40 S&W springs is something truly worthy of ridicule.

    I find this very believable.

Our department just took delivery of our new gen 4 22’s. I had a number of them fail to lock open on an empty mag which would indicate a recoil spring that is a little on the heavy side. Other than that they all functioned fine and shot great. I’m sure they’ll loosen up a bit over time. They were all shot with Remington 165gr FMJ ammo.

And that is why I have kept my Glocks, 3ed gens, and have a few extra parts for them just in case.

I have no idea why they changed springs. The guns WORK, so why mess with them? Sure add the swapable grips (and while you are at it get rid of that hooked trigger guard) but leave the rest of the gun ALONE!

Paul, too many people break the plastic guide rods by not installing them correctly on the barrel before they put the slide back on the frame.

There are a lot more changes to the gun than just the guide rods and adjustable backstraps. Larger, ambi mag release. The locking block is a new design, identical to the design on my 21. The frame also has quite a bit more material around the front rails and around the locking block. I’m guessing this is to add support to fix the left rear slide rail breakage problem. Also the feed ramp is slightly different than the previous generation. Not sure if anyone else has pointed these things out but that’s what I found when I looked at them. I’m guessing these will be a bit more reliable than the previous generations but time will tell.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
