NRA on Disclose

Another statement from NRA. Guess they’re getting the message that folks are not fans of this.

  1. Mick Rising Says:

“We didn’t “sell out” to Nancy Pelosi or anyone else. We told Congress we opposed the bill. As a result, congressional leaders announced they would exempt us from its draconian restrictions on free speech.”

So I am to believe that the Gun hating Democrats in Congress just exempted you from this anti-speech bill that would prevent criticism of them before elections JUST because you disagree with it???

Excuse me?? As a Life member of the NRA, after reading your NRA statement, how stupid do you think I am???

  2. John Smith Says:

They deny then confirm that they are doing exactly what their critics describe. Mick they think you are really really stupid and too ignorant to read also. Question is are you going to stay stupid. From the NRA point of view of course and mine if you stay.

  3. Mick Rising Says:

    John,

By staying and fighting to correct the instutional direction internally should get a correction faster than giving up and exiting the organization and then just complaining about it.

If nobody works on fixing it, it will never be corrected but just accepted. I/we don’t have to leave but if we cut their funds off and tell them why…we then have their attention and normally something will happen.

  4. Hypnagogue Says:

Translation: state-level affiliates of the NRA that require NRA membership will have to disclose their membership, therefore the NRA is not affected.

  5. Stranger Says:

To continue Hypnagogue’s thought, since the NRA would not be affected, the Dimocrats in Congress thought the NRA and its members would not object to a little abridgment of freedom of political speech.

For the moment, the point is moot. Politico reports Pelosi has been forced to pull the bill. It is very doubtful the Queen Moonbat can gather anything close to a majority, so this version of DISCLOSE is probably a goner. The next version?

You do have YOUR Senator and CongressCritter on speed dial – don’t you?

  6. Maxpwr Says:

Does anyone remember the D.C. Voting Rights bill? The NRA got an amendment attached to it that would have overturned most of Washington D.C.’s gun laws.

Most people who actually read the constitution know that that you can’t give D.C. voting rights in Congress without amending the constitution. However, the NRA (A single issue, non-partisan, Second Amendment organization) got an amendment attached to a bill that was otherwise a terrible bill, but it would have furthered the Second Amendment.

Where were all you people who are now so righteously indignant back when the NRA was proposing an advancement to a bill that was generally unconstitutional?

You weren’t anywhere, because you only get whipped into a frenzy when others tell you to get into a frenzy and that the NRA “Sold Us Out”.

Turn your anger at the Democrats for even proposing DISCLOSE, not the NRA for trying to advance its single issue agenda.

  7. Rivrdog Says:

The NRA “has a sworn duty” to protect the 2A? Really? It is the purpose of the organization, but a “sworn duty”?

  8. The Inconvenience Says:

No doubt the NRA has done some good, but I’m sick of all the bootlickers backing up the NRA when they do bad. I’ve got buddies who are terrified to go seek mental help for things that happened in Iraq because the NRA backed the “Veteran’s Disarmament Act”. I know I’ll sure as hell never talk to someone about what I saw thanks to the NRA.

Take your money and hit up the GOA and JPFO. I don’t know how many times in my life I’ve had to listen to anti-gun rhetoric by someone who starts with, “As a member of the NRA I think…” By not allowing the NRA to die you do more harm than good these days. When the NRA does good, it’s occasionally a small victory. I mean hooray, I can carry guns in national parks! Oh yeah, I was already doing that because I’m not an NRA bootlicker. But when the NRA screws us, which they are doing with increasing regularity, it’s on very big things. Like it or not, the NRA speaks for all gun owners when they take a stance. But that’s only because of those unprincipled Americans who stay with the NRA at all cost.

Just as with voting Republican if you want watered down liberalism, staying with the NRA is voting for watered down gun control and liberty infringements. You just don’t see it yet.

Though to be fair, I still dig Wayne LaPierre.

  9. EnemyoftheState Says:

My wallet gets thinner again. Got rid of the AARP card and now the NRA card. Can’t stand hypocrites.

  10. Maxpwr Says:

I just renewed a gift membership in NRA.

  11. John Smith Says:

It is amazing that some people will support an idealist group regardless of how many times the said group bends them over a barrel just as long as they give out a cookie before they do it. With how people support the Nra it is easy to see how anti gunners unquestioningly support democrats. You know that is one thing that americans do best above all else. Not learning…

  12. Brian Says:

The NRA – which is convinced its turds do’t stink – forgot that its members belong to many groups OTHER than the NRA. When the NRA throws other groups under the bus, it threw its members also.

    Don’t trust the NRA.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
