When I was a young street cop I carried my Marlin 30-30 lever action rifle instead of a shotgun, mostly because I already owned the rifle and didn’t have extra cash to buy a shotgun. One evening while running a burglary alarm we heard movement in the false panel ceiling of the building. Nobody wanted to poke their head up there, not knowing what we were up against. The sound of the lever action jackin a round into the chamber must have scared the burglar half to death as he hollered, “Don’t shoot, I’m coming out”. I still own that rifle. Sorry to hear they are calling it quits.
WOWOW; That SUX! I have two marlins and Love them both, they are two of my favorite guns. Hair spliting accurate 22 magnum and a marlin lever action 44 magnum, the deer slayer! Hope they pull it out, great company, with great guns. BUY MORE AMMO
David Petzal, the rifle editor of Field & Stream, is now updating his blog post to say that Marlin is only closing its North Haven Plant and will relocate somewhere else. Says he spoke with a Freedom Group spokesperson. I hope that is the case. I’d hate to see Marlin go out of business.
I just noticed that the original ABC News article has also been updated to say that Marlin is relocating its manufacturing facilities to “an undetermined site.”
The family of a friend of mine owned Marlin. The were fortunate to get out at the peak of the gun boom. We bonded while drinking beer several years ago at a conference and started talking about guns and hunting. He was glad to hear I’d bagged an elk with a Marlin .30-30.
Just down the road is a second-rate community college where, if you write a ‘Communications’ paper on the right to carry, they’ll call the police on you.
Why ever would a gun maker want to leave that state?
Sorry Andrew, but that’s a fail. I grew up in Ok. I know better than to believe they believe. Also, look at the last law just passed about “fortfying your home”. Then tell me again how much Okies love liberty.

I have a Marlin overandunder that my grandpa bought in the 1930s. Best pheasant gun ever.

damn…I like there guns too….maybe I can get a black rifle in 357?

Darned shame. I’m still hoping they stage a Winchester-style comeback.

Relocation.

I doubt it. They’ll probably pull a Winchester; and re-purpose other Remington/Cerberus capacity to produce Marlin firearms.

Hopefully they’re moving somewhere more gun- and business-friendly than Connecticut.
I really want one or two of their .357 leverguns. Can’t find them around here for anything less than an outrageous price.

and btw, I’ve shot the .357 lever action. That’s a cool gun.

That really sucks. I love my little Camp carbines (9mm and .45acp) and would have loved to see one in .40sw.

They’re just moving, not going out of business. Take off the funeral clothes. The reports of their demise are premature.

Hey Marlin! Move to OK. We love guns and are about as red as red can get. Red as in love the Constitution people!

I mean after you quit crying and throwing up.
