The Droid Update You’re Looking For

Supposedly, Android 2.1 (i.e., the OS on the Nexus One) is set to update Droid phones on January 22. There’s a cracked version out there but rumors are that it’s quite flaky. I wonder what 2.1 has in store? From screen shots, it looks pretty snazzy.

I’m getting boned w/the G1. No update past 1.5. Still love it, however. You’ll have Flash this year, too–

  2. SayUncle Says:

    i already have flash.

  3. Nate Says:

    when did you get flash?

  4. SayUncle Says:

Back in April. Kidding aside, droid supports flash.

  5. Nate Says:

Whenever I go to adobe’s website it says that it’s not available yet. I’m jealous!

  6. SayUncle Says:

you can’t see flash content in your browser?

  7. Johnny I Says:

    Whaaaa?
I can’t see Flash video or Flash based sites–only the YouTube content. I’m not sure what is used on some drop down menus, every now and again I’ll get a fly-by ad. Flash?

Flash 10 (10.1?) is what you have?

  8. SayUncle Says:

i dunno what it is but i can see flash content just fine.

  9. Diogenes Says:

Still waiting on 2.0 for the Eris(sigh). Promises, promises…

  10. Nate Says:

No flash content. I get the little “go to adobe and get it” message.

  11. derek Says:

My droid has not flash and I tried to update and got the message flash will be available some time this year.

I was in Toronto for work and the turn by turn navigation didn’t work, only google maps. I spent 4 days being completely lost. Not fun and not sure why it didn’t work in Canada.

I am looking forward to Android 2.1

  12. Johnny I Says:

I may have to send this phone downrange now.

  13. SayUncle Says:

or you could just do a reset (link). But save your data first.

  14. Johnny I Says:

    Thanks Unc–

  15. SayUncle Says:

i had to do it once when my wifi settings were messing with the 3g. as i said, back up data first. there’s even an app that will back up your apps.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that there was no such thing as Cracked GNU programs. Just code that was released before completion …

  17. Xrlq Says:

I heard a rumor that the new OS will allow the Droid to double up as an air card, as Blackberrys already do. We’ll see.

  18. SayUncle Says:

you can do that now several different ways. Two of which are free.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
