The anti-gunners and the press (but I repeat myself) are trying to say that allowing you to transport firearms in checked bags on Amtrak trains (just like you can do on a plane) will lead to attacks like the Madrid train attacks.

Well yeah! Don’t you know that adherents to the religion of peace only bomb trains with guns on them in order to ensure no violence takes place?
Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

My handgun very rarely explodes when locked up unloaded in luggage, even though it is a 9mm Glock. No kabooms so far.
These guys must be worried about Desert Eagles and 1911s and TCs and other ultra-powerful guns.

They must mean the Mumbai Attacks, which actually did feature a shootout at the train station; and passenger guns on trains would have helped END that sooner, since the victims would then be able to shoot back.
