i’m not sure that it qualifies as a “sub-compact.” they still have 19 +1 rounds of 9mm, just like the 4 and a half inch barrel XDm, but now they have a 3.8 inch barrel. the grip is the same size as the regular XDm.

isn’t the grip part the hard part to conceal? i conceal my XD .45 compact (4″ barrel) with the 10 round mag and carry the 13 round extended mag as a spare. i am pretty sure that if i concealed in an IWB, the extra half inch from the barrel length would be less of an issue than the extra grip length.

maybe they are simply replacing the normal XD 9mm service model with the new XDm 3.8. i think that they really have too many models anyway. replace the service and the “tactical” models with an XDm of different barrel lengths.
