More from Ron Ramsey

I mentioned yesterday that I tried to meet lieutenant governor and gubernatorial candidate Ron Ramsey at the Foothills Fall Festival. Well, he decided to just introduce himself in the comments section of that post. And he offers this bit of information:

As you probably know, I carried the bill that allowed for gun carry permits in Tennessee. I am the only candidate for governor that has a carry permit. I am a huge advocate for gun owners in Tennessee, both as a state senator and Lt. Governor.

    ‘Nuff said.

Hm. I wonder if he would be amenable to a series of email questions to be posted online at their conclusion…

Yup, and G.H.W. Bush got a lifetime membership in the NRA before his election, to fool us, then made a very public announcement of cancelling it after he got elected. John Carey did a big photo-op showing us he could hold a shotgun and get a “huntin’ license” too. And who was that idiot who though he could garner votes by having himself pictured in a battle tank wearing a helmet? Doesn’t matter– no one remembers him. Yawn (chuckle) (yawn).

Have him define his political philosophy, and his guiding principles, and point to his history of standing by them. That might have some meaning. Someone who advocates and fights for liberty, yet doesn’t own a gun, would be far preferable to a Progressive douchebag who shoots IPSC and High Power. All it says that he makes a point of having a carry permit is that he wants your vote.

I had a local city council candidate come by the other day, and I asked her what was her political philosophy. She was unprepared for the question. Imagine that. All she could do was ramble on about what she described as a “good ol’ boys club” in the current council. I guess maybe she’d prefer a good ol’ girls club. I quit asker her questions. Empty heads deliver nothing of interest.

I sound a bit cynical to some, no doubt, but understand that I/we have been fooled, cheated, and stabbed in the back waaaay too many times for me to get very excited about one declaration such as this without a lot more information.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
