Izhmash files for bankruptcy?

The maker of AKs and Saigas may go tango uniform. So, how do you make a weapon that costs $100 to make, sell it for $500 and do that?

    By being no good commies

Maybe if they sold them for 400 instead they’d sell a lot more and still be in business.

    Corruption most likely.

And I bet it costs less than $100 to make too.

same way art modell said he was losing money owning the browns: A cocaine and hooker habit of huge proportions.

I like how the comments on that financial story immediately get to the really important issue of what the best assault rifle in the world is.

I wonder what percentage of their total business is US exports, or the Saiga brand. Saiga might have nothing to do with it, or something.

They’re kind of a project gun for some people. So more than retail to get them out of import-legal configuration. And left as-is, $500 is a little high for a knock-around/beater gun. RaspberrySurprise may well be right about making it up on volume.

    ONe word: Skimming

The Russ Mafia is likely skimming off what used to be the company’s profit.

Well, most of that mark up probably goes to the importers, not Izmash.

Even if they only made $10 per gun, they are sitting smack dab in the middle of the largest commercial demand for their product since they were founded AND THEY STILL FAIL!!!

First off there rifles arent 500 bucks, the Sagia is the only Russian made AK you can buy in the US. They are sporterized however converting them to Assault rifle is cake. The .223 5.45 are both about 340 a rifle, the 7.62×39 is lil bit more and they have a .308 also its a pit priceyer at alil over 500. Also .410 20 and 12 gauge shot guns built off the AK.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
