Ouchie

A fishhook in the earlobe really hurts. Moving stuff in the garage and a rod fell. Ouch.

Quick put a ring in the hole before it heals!

    You’ll look SOOOOO cool dude!

    Are there Rules for fishhooks?

Seriously, I would rather have my seven-year old take a shot with my .22 pistol than have her try to cast with my fishing rod. (Not that she’s going to do either as of now, anyway.)

You have my sympathy. Did you have to explain it to an emergency room clerk? When I was 20 I was helping my dad in the garage and I opened this cabinet door which knocked a bicycle off these two nails that was holding it by the wheels from a rafter. It hit my head and cut me bad enough to go get stiches. The girl interviewing me asked me how it happened, and I said, “A bicycle fell on me”. She looked at me and then at my parents, and asked, “You fell OFF your bicycle?”
I said no, I was in the garage and the bicycle was hanging from the rafters and I opened a cabinet door.
Then, to make the bandage stick, they wrapped my head like a mummy, much to my mother’s shock.
I hope there was only pain for you and not embarassment at the hands of the medical establishment.

    Dude, seriously.

You keep that thing loaded with one up the pipe? Are you expecting an attack from a crack-addled striped bass?

Remember the 4 rules: treat every canepole as if it is barbed. Store bobbers and weights separately and out of the reach of children. Be sure of your backcast and what surrounds it. Don’t let out line until you know where your bait is going.

    Regards,
    Rabbit.

I hope you don’t have a Red Ryder BB gun. You’ll shoot your eye out.

  9. Kristopher Says:

That’s a classic fishing injury … but most of us only get it while fishing …

BTDT. Several times. I’m either just well coordinated (heh) or allergic to fish hooks.

FWIW, a double shot of Wild Turkey or Old Grandad is recommended before cutting the eye off and pushing it through, although it’s much less painful in an ear than it is in your arm or your thumb or little finger.

Why I pretty much quit fishing, chapter IV.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
