Guns in Parks

The Department of Interior is holding out on letting park carry go into effect until the full nine months are up.

    Here’s a yeah-but:

Yeah, but there probably won’t be any prosecutions for violating the rule in question. The fact of the matter that any prosecutor has to get by is that the law HAS changed, and any prosecutions would likely be seen by the judge hearing them as overzealous.

I have the impression (but without being able to point to specific cases) that it was fairly common for prosecutors and courts to happily send someone to prison for a crime committed a day before the activity was decriminalized. Going back in history, for example, did they dismiss all alcohol (selling, distribution, etc.) charges pending at the time Prohibition was repealed, or did they let those trials proceed?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
