A classic illustration from Aesop’s fables is seen at the link.
Perhaps the Democrats can better be described as another of Aesop’s fabulous characters, the dog in the manger. The sheep, the cow, and the donkey wanted to eat their hay, but the dog had curled up in the feed pile full of hay, and growled whenever any came near. He got nothing for his growling, because he could not eat the hay, but he enjoyed keeping others who wanted it from eating.
The Dems get absolutely nothing from opposing gun rights. They get higher crime, restrictions on individual freedom, opposition for their ignorance on guns and their malfeasance on rights, and all they get is the pleasure of making people do what they want.
Of course, an alternate interpretation is that the end goal for the Dems is restriction of individual liberty and they are using crime and guns as means to achieve that dishonorable end.
Either way, they are the snarling dog in the story.
