I’m not sure “out of touch” is the right phrase for the GW issue–scientific discussion and debate happens independently of public opinion…so I don’t see why “elites” (whomever they are, anyway) would have an obligation to change their views based on fluctuating poll results.
The gun issue is a social one, and so the dynamics are a little different.

Uh yeah, PGP, that why the so-called environmentalists were all upset when it was leaked that due to the cooling temps of the last decade and the insupportability of the global warming meme, they were going to change their terminology to “Climate Crisis”.
But hey, it’s all good. The cure for “Climate Crisis is the same as the cure for the phony man caused “Global Warming”, more government interference and denial of rights to and for citizens.

Ah, where to begin :). Like any other canard tossed around by people not educated on the subject on which they pontificate…the old “it ain’t warming anymore” barb doesn’t hold its dihydro monoxide. I’m not aware of any formal adjustments in terminology by scientists; I’m sure you’ll point us to the peer reviewed discussion on the subject. 😉

Who cares about the MSM? Try reading what actual scientists (gasp! the horra!) have to say. Talk about hysterics–trying reading something on the subject not spat out by Roger Ailes’ think tanks and the Savage radio blackhelicopter reactionary internet underground.

Try reading the scientific papers presented by actual scientists involved in climatology. You know, the several hundred signatories to papers presented to President Bush. And the several thousand on record as agreeing with them that A) There is not enough scientific data to prove man caused global warming; or B) The data disproves global warming as a man caused phenomenom.
So far, only the scientist working on government grants or scientist having no connection to climatology are included in that “consensus”.
But, you know what? I don’t care if you believe me. In fact, I prefer that you don’t. Because I so enthusiastically want you to be mortified when even you cannot maintain the feel good fiction of your environmental and intellectual superiority. So please, just go right ahead on. I have a few more years to await your education and shame.
