Peacable Assembly

Not in Cape Coral:

A tea party to protest government spending and taxing is canceled. Canceled by the government.

Why? They feel too many people could show-up.

  1. Bobby from USF Says:

Huh, last time my home town made the news it was for giant cat eating lizards. Now its for limiting freedom of speach.

    Oh, what a wonderful world.

  2. Adam Says:

“Therefore Rosko needed to get a permit and insurance for the event.”

Huh. I didn’t know I needed a permit and insurance to speak my mind…

  3. B Smith Says:

Thought the whole point of this ‘Tea Party’ business was to let government know it was overstepping its boundaries. The whole ‘permit/insurance-to-peaceably-assemble’ thing might be a good thing to add to the agenda.

  4. straightarrow Says:

Well, you would want them to be pragmatic, wouldn’t you, and work within the system?

you know the system, the one that rigs the game so they always win and keep their foot on your neck. Yeah, that system.

  5. Sebastian Says:

And it’s because of guys like Straightarrow, that the Progressives have been mopping the floor with libertarians and conservatives for the better part of the past century. Yes, keep making excuses for not getting involved in a serious way. You play right into their hands.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to run before I’m frightened by conversation.

  6. ATLien Says:

It’s because of people like Straightarrow, that we got rid of tyranny in 1776. Sebastian, you’re a pussy.

  7. Xrlq Says:

Right, it was because of washed up wimps who talk tough on their computers that the U.S. became independent from Great Britain. Get real, as in, not virtual.

  8. ATLien Says:

I’m willing to fight. And anyone not willing to should be ashamed.

  9. straightarrow Says:

I always notice that our cowards always accuse their betters of “talking tough”.

Both of the examples here, know better, but need cover.

I don’t much care about their opinions, because their opinion isn’t even honest by their own lights. It is simply risk avoidance, but wanting to hang out with grown men.

They surrender, they back up, they play one sided compromise to their own detriment, then blame everyone else for the defeat. Uh huh, I give a shit about their opinions.

Too late, Snowflake, to try to be funny, you already ran away for serious at the suggestion of conversation. You can’t joke your way out of that act of cowardice. But, I don’t care. Although just out of disrespect for you, I do like to rub your nose in it.

Might have tried to be a little more tolerant, but after you ran, you talked about me behind my back where I couldn’t answer back. I am supposed to care about a backfighting chickenshit? I don’t think so.

  10. straightarrow Says:

But hey, you two, just keep doing what they permit you to do. Sure winner there,……… if you are on their side.

Just don’t forget to pay for the permit, some from your wallet, some from your knees. ‘Cause, my goodness your type has nothing but victory since 1968, right? Oh, wait…..

  11. Sebastian Says:

I’m willing to fight. And anyone not willing to should be ashamed.

Then why aren’t you fighting the revolution now? Either the government is tyrannical and corrupt, and all hope is lost, in which case the political process is lost, or there’s still hope for the political process, in which case that’s what you should be doing, including going to these tea parties, rather than pooh poohing them.

“I’m willing to fight” is just an excuse to do nothing.

  12. Sebastian Says:

Might have tried to be a little more tolerant, but after you ran, you talked about me behind my back where I couldn’t answer back. I am supposed to care about a backfighting chickenshit? I don’t think so.

I probably went overboard when I redirected my site. I was pissed, I admit it. I probably shouldn’t have done it. But everything else wasn’t “behind your back” it was out where everyone could see it. The reason you could not “answer back” is because you couldn’t be civil.

  13. straightarrow Says:

No, it wasn’t. The reason was because you couldn’t logically win the debate. You let your girlfriend attack me personally, you attacked me personally and then ran away. Despite the fact that I stuck to the subject under discussion except for one response to the personal attacks pointing out your poor character for such degenerate tactics. Yours and your girlfriend’s.

Although, I probably should be used to cowards also being liars. It’s self defense. Just not honorable.

Also, it wasn’t in the open for me. So yes, it was behind my back.

  14. straightarrow Says:

Now, I will leave this subject alone. I can’t imagine Uncle likes a personal pissing match on his site. My apologies, Uncle.

  15. Gregory Morris Says:

Seriously guys. straightarrow and Sebastian. Cut it out. Neither one of you is right. 🙂

    *coughcough*

So…. uh, how about that local sports team, eh?

Anyhoo… Cape Coral and Ft. Myers are right down the road from me. Maybe I’ll go down and check it out.

  16. Xrlq Says:

HOw does one pronounce the word “peacable?” Peekable?

  17. straightarrow Says:

“Then why aren’t you fighting the revolution now? ”

Because we don’t want to fight. But the other side needs to know we will if they leave no other option. That point cannot be made if one only does what they allow one to do and we make sure they know that is all we will do.

They are not mutually exclusive ideas, until you take the willingness to fight off the table. Up until then we should be doing what is our guaranteed right to do without their permission, because they have not the authority to grant or withhold permission. If the fighting starts, it will be their side that starts it in the attempt to force us back into submission. They really do need to be aware of the consequences of that initiation of force to deprive us of our civil rights.

“Right, it was because of washed up wimps who talk tough on their computers that the U.S. became independent from Great Britain. Get real, as in, not virtual.”

You left out a lot, or you never knew, don’t you think?

“Washed up wimps” warned in every way possible with quill and ink, press and ink, emissaries and diplomats that there were violent consequences likely if the abuses of liberty were not stopped. These “washed up wimps” then picked up arms and pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to forcibly eject the abusers. The King also thought they were “washed up wimps”. The one thing he could never say, though, is that he wasn’t warned. Or that his estimation of them as “washed up wimps” was accurate.

In that same vein, there are those of us who have and will try everything to avoid the conflict of arms peaceably, except submission.

And then, there are those of us who believe in telling them there will never be a price to pay no matter the trespasses against us,except maybe unuttered resentment. Boy! That really stops tyrants, NOT!

What stops tyrants is prohibitive costs for their ambitions. Swearing to beg their permission to live like human beings isn’t all that apt to gain their attention, especially when we give them our assurances that if they don’t honor our pleading we will just do nothing.

“HOw does one pronounce the word “peacable?” Peekable?”

I would go with a soft ‘c’ were it me. I think I could figure out what he meant. Glad to be of help. The shortage of ‘e’s is just now clearing up and should not be manifestly obvious except in certain regions that have not yet received the shipment of replacements for those already expended.

  19. Number9 Says:

Feel something. Notice that people are talking softly? If you look closely, things are just a little off. The volume is a little lower.

Why would people have to be careful about being overheard?

These tea parties may be a rumble on the distant horizon.

President Obama leans on the CEO of GM and tells him he might want to consider to think about resigning?

A GPS in your car and your thermostat is controlled by someone other than you?

    A new world currency?

People don’t want there conversations overheard. That is why they now speak softly.

  20. Xrlq Says:

It’s back on. But hey, why attend a lawful protest in person when you could be babbling about revolution on a computer?

  21. nk Says:

If you need the government’s permission to exercise a right, you might wish to consider 1) it is not a right or 2) you do not deserve that right.

  22. ATLien Says:

xrlq: you know the .gov is listening on this site, right? think about it.

  23. straightarrow Says:

he knows, that’s why he makes sure they don’t have any heartburn with him.

  24. Xrlq Says:

I suppose they might, if for some odd reason they actually prefer idle chatter about phony revolutions (which I do not support) to actual participation in peaceful protests (which I do).

  25. straightarrow Says:

Proof? Xrlq. Proof? where is yours? You just posted mine about you.

  26. ATLien Says:

    actual participation in peaceful protests

you mean the protests that you need .gov persmision for. that they can deny? those protests?

talk to uncle about them listening.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
