State to comply with law

Good:

State Halts Gun Permit Renewals for Felons

Convicted felons may be headed into another run-in with the law if they try to renew their permits to carry handguns.

That’s because the state is now running new background checks.

Kinda sad that one would congratulate the state for doing what it’s supposed to do anyway, I guess.

Kinda sad that one can’t actually get their rights back after serving their time.

What skullz said. “Felon” means practically nothing anymore. You can get a felony conviction for stealing a bicycle when you are an 18 year old misguided youth. Ask me how I know! I came within a hair’s breath of never being able to own a firearm again because I was an idiot when I was 18.

EFT: Easier for Them is a rule for large organizations. Before their non-checks for felony convictions on renewals was noticed, it was easier for them to not check. Now that they have been caught slacking, it is easier for them to do the checks than to get slapped more by the legislature and courts and public opinion. When it is easier to catch a felon than to let one go, they will do so.

Ditto Skullz. If you can’t be trusted with a gun, you can’t be trusted without a custodian. You let ’em out, give ’em back ALL of their rights.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
