Question
I see a flaw in the system. I was checking out Rich’s pics of his new XDm 40 cal. Looks like it comes complete with holster, magazine carrier, paperweight err safety lock, magazine loader, and cleaning brush. One thing, though. The magazine carrier holds two mags. So, if you put one in the gun, you have an extra slot. Or do they come with three magazines? If not, they should. Pretty cool that it comes as a complete package.

I think they only come with two magazines. my old XD40 came with three magazines and a holster but no loader or magazine carrier. The springs in XD magazines are extremely strong, especially when trying to load all 12 rounds by hand. I have since gotten them a little more broken in. I really liked the XDm when I had a chance to handle one, too.

They do that ’cause they want you to run out and buy an extra mag right after you buy it, of course! 🙂

it comes with 2 mags, which means you’d have an empty slot in your pouch. But right now, if you buy an XD or an XDm, they’ll send you two more mags and another pouch for free.
The spring on the 12 round XD .40 mag was very hard to work with the first time I loaded the magazine, but it loosened up after a few cycles.
On the other hand, the 16 round mags for the XDm are strong but not overly so. I could hand load them with just a bit of effort.

I have an XD compact in .45 acp. It came with the 2 slot mag carrier, one ten-round mag and one 13 round mag. I only recently bought another set (another 10 rounder and another 13 round mag). So far, I haven’t taken to carrying multiple mags, but I know I should. I think I will start carrying the XD with the 10 round mag in the gun, and 2 fully loaded 13’s in the carrier. That way my overall concealment remains good, but I have a lot of back up. I use an IWB from Comp-Tac–love it.

The XDM only comes with 2 mags. I shoot at a cold range and they don’t allow a mag in when not shooting. So most of the time two pouch is perfect except when you need that third mag.
