Gun laws, you can believe in

Obama’s respect for the second amendment is so great it’s like it’s not even there. His transition plan states:

As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

Good way to pave the way for losses in 2010.

This is going to get interesting. I’ve seen arguments on both sides discussing what information should and shouldn’t be made publicly available. Some of that information in the hands of a Pro gun analyst or Blogger could be very helpful in tracking trends and bust some myths that the Brady campaign has been whining about for years.

The front page of the DrudgeReport shows Obama in car with the secret service officer holding an AR-15. I though that AR-15 only belonged on a foreign battlefield

See, the “Obama Team” keep saying things like this. But the president has no power to enact nor to repeal any legislation. That’s the job of congress. All Obama gets to do is sign or veto. Right?

  4. Matt Says:

Even the BATFE opposes repeal of Tiahrt. I’d argue it is one of the few times gun owners and the BATFE will be in complete agreement.

There’s some changed language there in the “childproof guns” thing. I suspect that is a back-door attempt to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms act to once again try to have consumer product safety zealotry applied to firearms. Or smart guns, which are complete BS and don’t exist.

I’m trying to be calm, I’m trying to be calm…

We should make it clear that if they reinstate the AWB those weapons will be used on a domestic battlefield.

  6. Tom Says:

Maybe “smart guns” are the ones that act on their own and keep taking out gang bangers.

In any case, all the folks who are drinking the “unconstitutional kool-aid” get real. If it’s the same ban based on looks it’ll pass their tests. After all, there will still be semi-autos. Banning by name might get struck down, but how soon all depends on IF the court takes it and WHEN they do.

Down the memory hole… the “change.gov” link is now 404.

I guess pointing out Obamas lies before he even takes office is bad form?

As “the most anti-gun president in American history”, I proudly state that I support the second amendment rights of all police officers if you who live in a district that voted for me.

It’s sad when an organization so loved and revered spends millions of members hard earned money to be wasted on political attack ads that don’t work. Lets instead encourage non-profit leaders to cling to community service and higher education.

I was able to get elected to the highest office without any influence from the Health Insurance Industry, the Oil Industry or the Weapons Industry. Therefore I’ve decided to outlaw contributions to congress from any of the above. We all need to unite beyond a common purpose and agree that there will be no more blood money for congress.

Don’t bother buying your assault rifles now because my ban won’t expire and will eventually require you exchange them all for Cubs tickets or be arrested by “jack-booted thugs”. Looks like gun traffickers and manufacturers “don’t have the votes in Congress”.

HOPE has come with an agenda chosen by the American people. Letters and harassment isn’t going to change our agenda… but increase our administrative costs which we’ll pay for by increasing ammunition taxes by 500%. Yes We CAN… “change the second amendment”.

One more thing… to the god crazies and gun nut readers: My secret service is historic in size and always watching. God Bless!
