Obama on guns

I didn’t watch the speech. I was afraid my little heart just couldn’t take all the HopeChangetm. So, I read it on the internets. Barack Smurfette Obama supports the ban on weapons that look like assault weapons:

The — the reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than they are for those plagued by gang violence in Cleveland, but don’t tell me we can’t uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals.

I’m no criminal. Can I have one? I mean, since AK-47s are already banned for everyone and you just want to keep them out of the hands of criminals and I’m not one, I figure you’d be cool with me having one.

Well, he did pick the primary Senate author of the 94 AWB to be his running mate.

Silly Rabbit, you can’t have an AK-47, tricks like that are only for Authorized Kids.
I wish it was that easy as showing we aren’t criminals, but I can hear i now after the election:

Of course you can’t have an AK-47, it will only be stolen from you and used by the gangs in New York, Boston, etc

Problem is I’m not sure if both candidates wouldn’t be saying that.

If we have an AK-47 we are criminal thus only criminals have AK-47’s and we can then ban them with impunity. At least that is what passes for Logic and Reason among the screeching monkies of the democratic party.

They reminded me of the witch in Oz with her little henchmen that bounced up and down in agreement with her commands.

Bah, a pox on their houses

I wonder why he didn’t use an Illinois example? Those plagued by gang violence in Chicago where there is a total ban on everything have it much worse off than the folks in Cleveland. If he was going for a big contrast in violence between city and small town, that would have been the most glaring and accurate example.

I’ll just keep a hold of my WASR-10 if it’s all the same to you, Mr. O.
I only ever take it out of its tactical bag when I go to the range.
I know it’s scary looking and all, but depriving me of my property which I bought and paid for will do exactly zilch to stop gang violence in Cleveland and *will* trample all over MY God-given rights.

I also decided to pick up a Mini-14 last week because 1) I noticed the MSRP [prices] had gone up markedly on Ruger’s website since the last time I looked, and I could still get one (the last one in stock!) for a reasonable price at Academy Sports & Outdoors and 2) there’s that special they’re running on 20-round mags right now (free 20 round mag w/ proof of purchase of a new Mini-14), and my free factory mag came in the mail yesterday, so I was a happy camper. I also have an after-market 20 round mag (ProMag) and the politically correct 5-round factory mag that came with the rifle itself. It’s the “un-PC” 20 round mag that makes it looks all assault-weapony, especially if you watch a lot of cheesy A-Team re-runs on cable.

That’s the funny thing to me, he claims to support “reasonable restrictions” on firearms. A ban, to me at least, is an “extremist” restriction rather than a “reasonable” one.

  8. Guav Says:

You can keep them out of the hand of criminals by keeping the criminals in jail.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
