Meaning that, until 1968, these things weren’t registered. Nor were gun dealers.
Apparently it was no big deal either. Well, until we were treated to news reels showing black people marching in the streets with guns. I remember that. I was kid, but I remember seeing blacks drilling in their neighborhoods with rifles on the 6 O’clock news. The newsies thought they had themselves some juicy material there. It was the peak of the 1960s Civil Rights movement. Right after that it was, when the Gun Control Act was passed.
The two Kennedys, Martin Luther King Jr, and Malcolm X had all been murdered.
But that’s only one chapter in the long story leading to our conclusion that gun control is racist at its core.
