Tragedies and ‘the best in people’
After our local shooting, some items:
The KNS has issues with comments: My publisher sent me several emails over the weekend about complaints about hateful, invective, acidic and just generally mean-spirited reader comments on our newspaper Web sites.
On me: Maryville Gun Blogger blames the victims (without explcitly [sic] saying so he really didn’t and you are a goddam [sic] commie for suggesting it).
Talk about politicizing: Wouldn’t surprise me if he had an Obama sign in his front yard.

I learned a lot discussing issues with extremist liberals. The biggest thing I learned is that it is pointless to waste time with them. They are incapable of learning or thought. All they understand is what they learned by rote.
The sad part is that Metulj gets to warp young minds in his classroom. Not difficult to see how this is a self-perpetuating problem. When we lost the level playing field in colleges, we as a society were doomed to the social democrat thinking of the elite.
In England they are now looking to ban knives and farm implements. Apparently the elite here believe that is a good idea.

As for my classroom, I was recently praised in my GTA evaluations by the graduate school as “having one of the most open policies on debate possible, without losing control of the class. He possesses the ability to take a controversial comment from a student and make it relevant to the course material, even if that comment is against the prevailing sentiment in the class. His grasp of philosophical and historical viewpoints is astonishing, and equivalent to a professor with many years of tenure.” Written by a “mystery” student, most likely a n assistant dean, who observed my recent lectures and class discussions.
I got a grudging ‘B’ from the College Republicans because I give them enough rope, though I still haven’t received the extra credit assignment from the guy who I asked to provide empirical evidence of “the invisible hand.” He did thank me for making him think the whole semester, though.
BTW, “social democrat” and “elite” are contradictory terms. You should think more.

You wrote that an hour after the shooting. That isn’t being a smart ass. That is sick. You couldn’t wait could you? Do you think an hour after a tragedy might be too soon to press your agenda?

The issue of mental illness has been brought up numerous times, most notably by several members of the TVUUC congregration. If you have any respect for the victims, please don’t use this tragedy and their deaths as a convenient springboard to argue with people.

That is exactly the point I made to Metulj Sunday on KnoxViews when he pushed his agenda one hour after the shooting and now you come over here and parrot it back? You are a piece of work.
The only comment I have made other than recognizing the heroism of Greg McKendry was that people should wait before trumping forth their agendas.
Go advance your cause with someone who cares what you think. Your pedantic lectures are a waste of oxygen and time.
