Abandonment of property

Odd case where a man leaves his guns with police for safekeeping. Now, the police won’t return them.

how is this not theft under color of law?

I understand he was in the nuthouse, but who thought that would be a good idea? Isn’t that what IL Police do? Take your guns, and not give them back….laws be damned?

“safe keeping” due to mental health issues in the family and Domestic Violence allegations are common reasons that depts. require a court order to recover weapons because of the liability concerns forced on them by trial lawyers. This removes them from suits if they (returned guns) are used wrong by the person(s) recovering them, read shoot somebody. They still should have told them in advance of that…and getting a district court order is normaly cheep, show up and have the judge in open court sign a piece of paper….Not sure we are getting the whole story in this one.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
