Confusing
Why do DC police need assault rifles to defend against criminals with high-powered weapons? Don’t those criminals know that those weapons should be locked up or disassembled in their house?

Have you heard the proposal to arm the police in chicago with M4s?

You’re missing the devious plot with the up arming of police. There will be assault rifles on the streets in police cars. So the criminals will steal the rifles from the police cars. The criminals will then have the reported mythical assault weapons. Then the gun grabbers will have their evidence that the guns must be banned to keep them out of the hands of criminals.
Let’s see, I’m a criminal and I want an assault rifle. I can leave the District and break into houses until I find one, I can run the risk of arrest trying to find a illegal gun trafficker, or I can pop the trunk on that patrol car that just parked down on the corner? Hmm.

Yes! The obvious solution to escalating gun violence it to flood the streets with assault weapons.
