Anti-gun finances

I like to keep tabs on them so:

Tio Hardiman, director of mediation services for CeaseFire, said the group, which is operating on a skeleton staff after it lost more than $6 million in state funding, will attempt to train residents to peacefully resolve potentially violent conflicts, and will ask adult men in high-risk neighborhoods to agree to mentor one child on their block.

State-funded gun control groups?

State-sponsored gun control? Of course! Our taxes pay hired guns to restrict and deny the RKBA…backed up by laws in violation of the Bill of Rights.

You bet they get govt. funds. My new GUNS Magazine article talks about ex-cop/felon Billy Celester, head of Boston’s anti-gun Reaching Out to Others Together (ROOT) program:

    Looking into them, I found:

On their 2006 IRS form 990, ROOT claimed revenues of $226,255. Of that, $191,839 was listed under “Contributions” as government grants.

Guidestar and Melissa Data are good resources for looking up nonprofits. A while back, our pals at Freedom States Alliance posted NRA executive compensation from their filings. I posted this as return fire:

and somebody must have figured out something about people living in glass houses, because they stopped doing it.

I want to bring AHSA’s finances to light. I don’t think I have a complete picture yet due to the newness of that org, but just posted this, which is a start:

Some friendly legislators might be funding them via “member items”, i.e. pork.

  4. Xrlq Says:

Unfortunately, there’s not a lot we can do about this except to complain to legislators. No matter how broadly the Supremes may rule in Heller, I can guarantee they won’t rule that states can’t pay GFWs to encourage other citizens to become GFWs. State funded proselytizing by religion violates the Establishment Clause, but there is no establishment clause equivalent for guns (or any other constitutional rights, including freedom of speech for that matter).

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
