State ID is State ID

Not sure the big deal about using your Handgun Carry Permit as ID to vote. A state issued ID is a state issued ID. I’ve used mine many times when two forms of ID are required.

While vacationing in California, I pondered producing my carry ID when buying beer.

I decided the possibility of law enforcement involvement outweighed the momentary hilarity I might have enjoyed.

Beck here? In a heartbeat, baybee.

I’d be a bit worried about having a fun meeting with the local gun-fearing wussy security officers. Sure, they’ve only got tasers, but those aren’t particularly enjoyable.

I’ve used my Texas CHL for primary ID as well as secondary ID many places. I’ve had a bank teller give me the ‘deer-in-the-headlights’ moment when I showed it, along with a Southwest Airlines ticket drone. That was the same person who insisted the FAA authorized Pelican case I was traveling with ‘had to be concealed in another case’. A quick visit with her supervisor and the TSA fixed that one.

Mostly I get major jollies using my CHL for ID at Borders and Barnes and Noble. It warms the great big cockroaches of my heart to see them blanch when they realize what they’re seeing, but maybe it’s just my face.

    Regards,
    Rabbit.

I use my MD carry permit at the airport now whenever I can…it’s great. Doesn’t have my DOB on it though…

I once tweaked an extreme liberal anti-gunner by telling him that my CHL was a more valid form of ID than his driver’s license. He protested. I asked him, “How many sets of your fingerprints were taken and how many background checks were performed on you before you could get your driver’s license?”

I’ve used my handgun permit as ID at the airport. One would think that this is just begging for trouble (as those of you who have seen me face-to-face can really understand), but it was all good. I think part of it was that they didn’t really recognize what it was. They were just like “that’s odd, it’s 90 degrees off.” Makes you confident, no?

  7. Phelps Says:

Actually, they won’t take a CCL at the airport anymore. I can’t figure that out — the Texas DOT issues DLs, the Texas DOT issues CCLs. They have the same authentication techniques, same data, etc. But it isn’t on the “TSA list.” (I think it has something to do with the REAL ID shit, but everything to do with the TSA is a nasheenal secyoority seekrit.)

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
