Reader John emails the following on the presidential candidates:

McCain

  Abortion: Totally
opposed to abortion, except incest/rape pregnancies. Supports notification
of parents for abortion performed on minors.

  Economy: Cut
taxes during surplus, cut spending during deficit.

  Civil Rights:

same-sex benefits is a state issue. against Affirmative Action. 
Limit media in political speech and violence. 

  Crime: Support
Death penalty.  Hate crime same as other crime. supports longer
sentences.

  Education: Support
Vouchers & homeschooling. Allow school prayer. Creationism should
decided by each district/state. Internet should be filtered. (John Censored?)
Neutral on NCLB.

  Energy/Environment:
Don’t drill ANWR. Resist restricting industry. Support ethanol. Encourage
nuclear power.

  Foreign Policy:
Finish war in Iraq. Overthrow rogue gov’ts through diplomacy and embargoes.
Keep our nukes. Reduce military spending.  Protect Israel.

  Gun Control:
support citizen gun ownership. Support “assault weapons”.

  Health care:
Individual responsibility. no state-run health care.

Immigration:
Support welfare for illegals. Support Amnesty.  Support English
as official language of USA.    Oppose bilingual education. 
Support border fence.

  Social Security:

Support personal savings accounts, admits SS will fail.

  Welfare: Must
work fulltime to get welfare.  Welfare for illegals. Support housing
bailout.
 

Obama

  Abortion: Support
right to abortion. Against notification of parents for abortion performed
on minors.

  Economy: 

Limited voting record, no clear statements on taxes. Really.

  Civil Rights:
Allow same-sex benefits.  Support affirmative action.  Allow
flag burning.  No voting record on free speech/media.

  Crime: against
death penalty.  Hate crime worse than other crime.  Limited
voting record.

  Education: Opposes
vouchers/homeschool.  No record on libraries.  Increase funding
for education.  Support NCLB.

  Energy/Environment:
Don’t drill ANWR. Restrict industry. Support ethanol. No record on nuclear
power.

  Foreign Policy:
“Get out of Iraq.” Limited voting record.  No record
on nukes. Support isreal. Expand the military.

  Gun Control:
Restrict citizen gun ownership. Ban “assault weapons”.

  Health care:

Support private healthcare.

  Immigration:
Support welfare for illegals. No amnesty. No record on bilingual education.
Support border fence. 

  Social Security:
No personal accounts. Inconsistent on SS sustainability.

  Welfare: Increase
minimum wage. Welfare for illegals. Welfare not dependent on work. Support
housing bailout.

Get out of Iraq. Pacifist. Mixed on keeping nukes. Reduce military spending.
Support Palestine.

  Gun Control:
Restrict citizen gun ownership. Ban “assault weapons”.

  Health
care:
Support state-run healthcare.

  Immigration:
Conflicting votes on welfare for illegals. Support amnesty. Support
bilingual education. Not support English as official language. 
Against a border fence.

  Social Security:
Supports personal accounts. Admits SS will fail.

minimum wage. welfare not dependent on work. “Link payments to
good parenting behavior.” Leads housing bailout.
 

Romney

  Abortion: Contradictory
record.  Talks about overturning Roe, but consistently acts pro-choice. 

  Economy: Cut
spending during deficit.  Never faced with a surplus.

  Civil Rights:
Mixed on same-sex benefits.  Supports affirmative action and quotas.
No record on flag burning.  Limit religious speech.

  Crime: Supports
death penalty.  No record on hate crimes.  Longer sentences.

  Education: Support
vouchers, neutral homeschool.  No prayer in schools.  Support
NCLB.

  Energy/Environment:
Drill ANWR.  Restrict Industry.  No record on ethanol. 

Support Nuclear Power.

  Foreign Policy:
No voting record (only served in state gov)

  Gun Control:
Restrict citizen gun ownership.  Ban “assault weapons”.

  Health
care:
Support private health-care.

  Immigration:
Against welfare for illegals. No amnesty. Bilingual ok. No record on
border fence.

  Social Security:
No record on SS.

  Welfare: Reduced

    well you said john mccain favored internet censorship bit didn’t give other candidates positions on it. maybe I missed it.
