Arsenal Ban

In Mass, they’re looking to make it illegal to own more than 15 firearms without a license. Another gun law that targets the law-abiding.

IIRC, in NY state, except for those licensed in NY, possession of 5 or more handguns is treated as “felony trafficking in arms,” despite McClure-Volkmer. Also IIRC, you can’t get a NY license unless you’re a resident, a nice Catch-22. Guess they really, really want you not to to drive through….

FOR anyone not familiar with Assachusetts’ “common sense” gun laws, That’s a $100 license to collect firearms IN ADDITION TO the $100 license to own firearms.

Pay up, and your arsenal magically ceases being a threat to the children of Massachusetts.

I’m surprised California hasn’t jumped on that bandwagon..yet.

Will someone please fill me in on the rationale behind this? I don’t get it. I mean, unless you have as many arms as Vishnu, what difference does it make to the .gov if you have one gun or a hundred?

Yet another stupid gun law that will do nothing to reduce crime but will punish the law abiding.

This seems far more serious than that. IANAL, but following the link I see:

“Whoever … [lacking a police granted license to sell, rent, or lease firearms] and who purchases or otherwise accepts and keeps within the commonwealth for any period of time more than 15 firearms during any 1 year period shall [become a felon and be locked up]…”

read the whole thing, but I definitely see it stating that if you own or posess more than 15 guns in a years time you are a felon, even if you never own more than one gun at a time. If borrowing for an afternoon to sight in at the range for a friend counts as accepting then I’m pretty sure you’re a felon under this statute if you own 1 gun and sight in 15 for friends.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
