On H&K
Hadn’t thought of that. I don’t buy them because they told the US civilian market to get bent.

I’ve actually talked with H&K reps and, according to them, there’s a simple reason for why they don’t make civilian versions of many of their weapons: cost.
Because of the 1985 gun law prohibiting the manufacture of automatic weapons to civilians, there is a large amount of cost involved with modifying the manufacturing process enough to keep the ATF from crawling up their ass about the semi-auto versions. H&K simply looked at the projected sales for semi-auto versions, compared it to the cost, and decided there wasn’t a large enough profit margin to justify the hassle.
Just another reason why I care a lot more about that crappy ’85 law than I do about the 1934 NFA.

If they wanted to sell to the US market, they could simply modify the design, then contract a manufacturer in the US to produce a semi receiver or whatever parts needed to be modified.
Sort of like the FAL kits. H&K could then supervise the factories and quality control.
Price of the guns would be set by demand and the cost of manufacturer. I have no doubt that they would make a tidy profit.
I think they are not doing it for other reasons. I cannot think why, possibly they like the current marketing situation and don’t want to be associated with crazy-gun-nuts-who-may-go-out-at-any-time-and-massacre-a-school. What do you think?

What to do, what to do. I’ve tricked out my USP. I don’t really want to get rid of it.
