Keeping ’em down
So, every few years we have these elections. In those elections, all the candidates promise:
We’ve been having elections for a long time. Why hasn’t this stuff been done? I mean, since it’s always promised.

“We’ve been having elections for a long time. Why hasn’t this stuff been done?”
Not to sound like too much of a smart @$$, but: because this isn’t a socialist country, and the government isn’t/shouldn’t be in the business of ‘taking care of’ anyone.
[Extended] Families should be taking care of their very young and very old. And we have an (admittedly imperfect) VA to take care of career military / veterans.
