These straws, they repel my grasp

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership:

Brady Center Lawyers Assail Appeals Court for Endorsing An “Armed Populace” over “Well Regulated Militia” of the Second Amendment

Now, I know I’m just an uneducated, ignorant hillbilly but my copy of the second amendment says nothing about an “Armed Populace”. It says that a well-regulated militia is necessary to a free state. And then says the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. It doesn’t say pick one or the other.

If the Brady Bunch said the sky was blue, I’d go outside to check.

  2. Cactus Jack Says:

It’s too bad that the founding fathers did’nt add “Armed Populace” over “Well Regulated Militia” when they wrote the bill of rights. There’d be no misinterpreting that.

  3. Chas Says:

If the Second Amendment only means an individual right, and not some sort of trumped up “collective right” designed only to destroy its meaning, then which government agencies are going to have to give up their guns?

    I didn’t think so.

The “essential to the security of the free condition” is a subordinate clause. I was taught in seventh grade that they don’t change the meaning of the primary clause.

Someone should point the Brady Bunch at 10 USC 311.

The people are the militia, for the most part. (It’ll be hilarious watching them argue for the disarmament of everyone over 45, though.)

And women, don’t forget disarming all the women except for those in the Guard.

  7. Wildweathel Says:

    Armed populace = militia.

Frequent shooting practice + occasional emergency response drill = well-regulated.

    2 + 2 = 4.

    2 + 2 != 5.

    The math is simple enough.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
