NYT helps terrorists plan gun attacks

The NYT goes one step further in its mission to help terrorists by helping them plan a series of sniper attacks across the county.

The basic idea is to arm 20 terrorists with rifles and cars, and arrange to have them begin shooting randomly at pre-set times all across the country. Big cities, little cities, suburbs, etc. Have them move around a lot. No one will know when and where the next attack will be. The chaos would be unbelievable, especially considering how few resources it would require of the terrorists. It would also be extremely hard to catch these guys.

An unintended consequence may well be the increased incidence of concealed carry among the general population but any terrorist plan of this sort, let alone action, would certainly put more pressure on the ownership of hunting sniper rifles. It would certainly show the population at large that they are responsible for their own safety and the gov can’t protect everyone, everywhere, all the time.

Like printing names of CPL holders in the press, having an idea does not automatically make it a good idea to publish it publically.

I think everyone who actually knows shooting, who had actually read the accounts of the “beltway snipers”, (150 yards? Feh), have already thought of this idea. Heck, ask my sister-in-law that kept her kids inside for weeks during the white box truck unpleasantness. Did she think of that possibility too?. I don’t think this was a particularly grievous blurb to print. Certainly not as bad as publishing carry permit holder’s names.

One problem with the wide-spread sniper deployments. By and large, terrorists don’t seem to be able to shoot worth a damn. A nation of rifleman can.

I guess I was more disturbed by the public call for more creative ideas. I f you troll through the comments, people are coming up with some novel weaknesses.

It’s just a matter of spotting them early enough to get good return fire!

Such a terrorist plan would bring our own government in on the terrorist side, because the reactionary response would be for even more gun control and maybe martial law in which the government’s hired guns would disarm us…which is normally what your enemies do.

I think there might be some unpleasantness at American mosques too, until some of “peaceful” muslims started naming names.

I’d think the same number of terrorists with the same number of cars and matches and gasoline instead of guns would cause more economic havoc if they set a goodly bit of the western forests on fire, eh? The fact that they haven’t may be an indication that its all a ruse to keep the sheeple spooked.

  6. Smacklug Says:

That’s a pretty common idea, hell, it was even in a Tom Clancy book. However, the terrorists try for big attacks on specific targets than things like this. They are more interested in gaining support in their home Muslim countries than actually cripple the U.S.

I’m not saying you are not right, but how do they manage the same problem over in Israel?

And would it be the (D) people or the (R) people out front, beating the drum for even more gun control and/or martial law ?

    Two words – “trunk rifle”.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
