HK416

HK makes an AR called the HK416. The Norwegians have ordered some. Civilians in the US still can’t get them. And that’s why I don’t buy anything from HK. Not even a hat.

H&K didn’t even have any of their long guns on display at the NRA convention. Their booth was exclusively pistols, none of which I was particularly impressed by. Sadly, I didn’t spend much time at their booth when it wasn’t busy, so I could badger their floor person for not selling a lot of their long guns in the civilian market.

I’ll buy H&K, but only used.

LWRC (lwrifles.com) is more than happy to fulfill any Short Stroke Gas Piston operated AR wishes you may have (5.56 or 6.8). They’re available right now, and they’re domestic!

  3. Diamondback Says:

I’ve been told by H&K reps that they aren’t too keen on their civilian market and have considered dropping it all together as most of their sales are to police and military. I don’t know if this is true or not…

I just think their pistols feel like crap in my hand…

H&K hates the civilian market, Achung! Vespect Mah Authoratah!

But I notice they damn sure loved it when they rushed the USP into it – if it hadn’t taken off like hotcakes, the company was in for dire, dire straits.

Now the military/police action has picked up, not so worried about us. Until the major deployments end, the governments say “Gee, we’ve got a lot of stuff in the warehouse we can make do with”, and they’ll come running back.

HK’s unofficial slogan for civilian sales (from Tam, IIRC)
    HK
    Because you suck
    And we hate you.

Just what you guys need:a new rifle to blow your selves away with.
it sems to me you are doing just fine killing eachother whit the guns you already have…

  8. SayUncle Says:

Yes, clearly we need to ban them. I mean, where you live, those strict gun laws keep people from shooting each other. Right? And your murder rate must be lower?

  9. stoner Says:

Violent crime is on the rise everywhere, even in countries whit strict gun laws. If someone want to kill someone, they will find a way to do it. But there is a fact that guns like the hk416 is buillt for one purpose, to kill or damage personell. in my opinion these guns are made for law-enforcement and millitary use, and have nothing to do in civillian hands. A stict gun law prevents criminals to get these types of weapons legaly, making it more difficult for them to arm themselves. I understand the need for self-protection,and the fun they create on the shooting-field(i have tried the hk…) but do you need these types of weapons around in your homes??

  10. Sebastian Says:

Violent crime has been dropping in the US, actually. Has dropped quite a bit in the last 15 years. The HK 416’s purpose is to propel a projectile at high speed. Whether or not it kills depends on the person holding it.

And there are times, regrettably, when someone may have to shoot another in self-defense. Americans generally don’t accept relying on the government for their own personal security.

Also, you should probably understand a bit about US gun laws. Firearms aren’t as unrestricted as folks in Europe tend to think they are. See my post US Gun Laws 101.

i admit im not up to speed on US gun law, so i have read your post, sebastian, witch was wery good. I understand that cultural differences play a vital role in the way see on these thing. I can give you an example og the gun-law in my country(maybe you already know.)
For all types of firearms: You got to have a cleen criminal record, and get a licence from the police.
At the age of 16, you can by a shotgun, whit your parens aproval, and you have to be a member of a officialy aproved shooting club.
At the age of 18, you can by a rifle for hunting or sports. You have to document that you belong to a hunting or a sport-club. Single-shot, Bolt-action, lever-action or semi automatic(half-auto).
For a revolver or a pistol: at the age of 21 , at least 6 months active membership of a shooting-club.

  12. Sebastian Says:

I’ve never really understood the requirement that one be a member of a shooting club. I never joined a shooting club until I was 26, despite having had a fair amount of firearms experience. I used to shoot on my Uncle’s land when I was a kid. Is that maybe a reflection of the view that it’s not legitimate to own a firearm in the home for self-defense purposes?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
