Oops

Awkward:

A prominent Illinois gun control advocate found himself tongue-tied after he was caught telling something other than the truth about a popular brand of target rifles. The gaffe came during a Wednesday press conference hosted by Sen. Dan Kotowski (D-33) in support of several gun control bills.

In his address, Kotowski pointed to a rifle staged as a prop for the event and described it as being a “military” weapon. What Kotowski did not know was that Mr. Mark Westrom, President of Armalite, Incorporated, was in the audience. Mr. Westrom rose to inform the attendees that his company manufactured the rifle in question, and that his company has never sold the rifle to the military. Westrom continued by pointing out that the rifle is purchased primarily by civilian target shooters. Westrom’s revelation changed the course of the press conference, to say the least.

B-b-b-but it’s black and evil looking. It must be.

    Oh, that’s f-ing priceless!

There are a lot of guns on the next proposed ban list (HR 1022) that are not really in use in the military. I make it a point to explain this when the subject of “Military assault rifles” comes up. I ask them what branch uses the Tec 9, etc. Shuts them up. Jack.

Not one of the rifles covered by 1022 is a “military assault rifle”.

Exactly zero point zero zero zero.

A military assault rifle fires in automatic or burst mode, and those have been restricted by the stupid NFA since 1934. You know, the deallyo that was enacted the month following the end of Prohibition, so federal alcohol enforcement agents could keep their federal paychecks?

What we’re talking about is a ban on style. That is to say military “style” rifles that are not in fact assault rifles.

But why quibble over facts (you know, irrelevant facts like the mere existence of the U.S. Constitution) when there is important work to be done?

I look to the day when anyone in Congress offering a bill that is so clearly unconstitutional gets arrested, tried, convicted, and either jailed or deported. You know, “…against all enemies, foreign and domestic” and all that? These are the domestic veriety. They have no place in a free society.

Great description, sums up everything. Sort of a rifle profiling. Boy if you did this with people there would be Hell to pay.

What if evil black rifles were painted green? Call them eco-rifles. Would that make everyone happy? Since no wood would be used for their stocks we would be saving the planet. Right?

I spoke with my employees today about offering “carbon credits” (in the way of cupons) to anyone who buys a synthetis rifle stock. After all, its about locking up carbon, so it never ends up as atmospheric co2, right? What better way to lock up carbon for the longest time than by turning it into thousands of tons of polymer rifle stocks.

Same goes for plastic shopping bags for that matter.

I wrote this a couple years ago about an OD greem collapsible AK buttstock:
“Its OD green color will no doubt impress all your leftist, Green Party member friends, convincing them that you are someone who truly cares about the important, natural balance and the unspoiled beauty of a great custom weapon.”

Myself, I somewhat prefer the unspoiled beauty and the natural balance of a great Constitution, however.

Oh snap. Carbon credits for synthetic rifle stock, that is genius.
