Gun control: I’ll be back
Gun control may have faded as a political issue, but the mentality that Washington knows best– and that certain constitutional rights are anachronisms– is alive and well. Look for gun control advocates to bide their time and look for new ways to resurrect the issue in 2008 and beyond.

Actually, gun control will be back in January of 2007 if the Dems win enough seats. The best scenario for gun controllers is that the Dems control the House by at least 10 seats and the Senate by at least 3 seats. That way they won’t have to rely on nervous moderates who represent Republican-leaning districts.
The worst scenario for gun controllers will be if the Dems end up only taking the House by 2-3 seats and not take control of the Senate. That way, they’ll have responsibility without power; Pelosi will be in charge but won’t be able to do anything for fear of a rebellion among rural Dems.
