Glad I don’t work for ‘the man’

Over VV, AC asks:

My question is: under what circumstance is it appropriate to print the word? Obviously, not as a slur but is it okay in other circumstances? Should it be asterisked as though it were a curse word or should one use the political correct term “N-word”?

Now, AC blogs for the man, the MSM, part of the problem. So, he has to cater to the delicate sensibilities of people. I don’t. He asked this question in reference to my post in which I (intentionally) said gays and godless heathens are the new niggers. You, if you were a smart person, probably realized that I was using inflammatory language to reference the widespread dehumanization of blacks by using a derogatory term. You, if you were a dumbass, thought I was a RACIST!!!! (for examples of such dumbassery, see comments at AC’s joint).

And Brittney, who also blogs the man, the MSM, part of the problem, has a pretty funny image here. I thought it was funny. And even thought I may snag a copy. I notice the name of the files was respectthecock.gif. I thought it was funnier. I commented on how funny I thought the name was and she said that was almost the title the post. I assume she thought the people who watch WKRN wouldn’t find it so funny.

If I worked for the man, I couldn’t say things like that. Or talk about a bunch of stuff I talk about here.

I read it. I didn’t think you were a racist. I thought you making a reference to how deplorable such behavior is. Of course, I’m not a hysterical weenies that takes pride in overweening political correctness. Nor do I look to make profit by taking advantage of hysterical weenies that are too stupid to know what you were doing. Keep up the good work.

I know. Sometimes I feel like a sell-out. Then I remember I don’t have to go wait tables later, and I get over it pretty quick.

It just goes to show how ridiculous and overly sensitive some people can be. I remember an incident where some radio host (I can’t remember who) used the term “niggardly” and was excroriated by all the illiterate morons who were offended (and not because they felt their spending habits were being insulted).

I’m glad you don’t work for “the man” as well. I enjoy your stuff much more than any hoity-toity “authorized” journalist I’ve ever run across.

Besides, blogs are so much a better medium for “opinion” type commentary…the ability to leave comments provides the sense of (illusion of?) dialogue. I’m not being “talked at” by someone who thinks they should be authorized to tell me what my opinion should be, I’m being “talked to” by someone who is (at least marginally) interested in what I have to say as well.

Even if we disagree vehemently, I can tell you so, I’m not reduced to submitting a 200 word letter to the editor that may or may not be printed (or even read) or just using the editorial page for puppy training.

SC: Actually, that was David Howard, an aide to DC Mayor Anthony Williams.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
