Wow

Even more staggering:

SayUncle thinks that a state passing 400 laws in a session is bad. According to a service dedicated to tracking state legislation, 29,840 laws have been adopted or enacted in 2006 as of August 24, 2006. That averages out to 597 laws per state in 2006.

Jebus.

We were in Leesville, Louisiana, (where I was winning the Louisiana Highpower Championship this last weekend), at the front desk of the hotel. Over the front desk was a sign: State Law Prohibits the Front Desk Clerk from giving change for the Cigarette Machine.

    That enough laws for you?

I hope this settles the question of whether this is a free country or not.

I’ll go on: On the way to and from Perry this year, I read every local paper I could buy at the gas stops. Much fun. In Dayton, they had a front-page brouhaha going because a city councilwoman had insulted an irate citizen who came before the council. The story was about who should apologize, when, how much, was the councilwoman too mean, racist, blah, blah, blah.

But to me the STORY was the irate citizens complaint: He got ticketed for NOT having a permit for his above-the-ground inflatable wading pool for his kid. A wading pool. From Walmart. For kids. Gotta have a city permit. 35 bucks. OR a 275.00 ticket. His choice. (that’s the kind of choices we citizens get these days.)

The Texas Declaration of Independence says that it is NOT just the citizens RIGHT but his DUTY to take up arms and rebel whenever his government grows too oppressive. That’s my favorite question for candidates: Is the Texas Declaration of Independence wrong or are you ready to lead a revolution?

I’m not going to get my horse and gun anytime soon. It’s been over for quite some time now.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
