I’ve long held that John McCain is certifiably fucking looney. I was right:
I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I’d rather have the clean government.
At least he wants a clean government, I suppose. Other politicos damn all the amendments and prefer the government dirty.

You need to take that remark in context. He’s not damning the entire First Amendment, just the idea that corporate lobbying and campaign donations are protected from regulation by the First Amendment.
