Nine proposals fight trafficking, loopholes

That’s what it says. Not sure who this I person is, but they have a plan that includes:

Stiffening the penalties for gun trafficking. That sounds reasonable.

Extending RICO to gun traffickers. When all else fails, we use RICO.

Banning sales of ammunition to people who have committed certain crimes. I wonder how they plan on doing this? Apply the NCIS to ammo sales? This one really strikes me as unenforceable. Any plan to make it enforceable would be too costly and cumbersome.

Requiring destruction of used law enforcement firearms.

Requiring the reporting of stolen guns within 72 hours.

I agree on the ammo sales, it’s pretty much unenforceable unless they use NICS and charge you $5 on top of every ammo purchase.

And requiring the destruction of used cop guns is just dumb. That comes from the “availability of guns” line of thinking. Would they require the destruction of state vehicles as well? Of course not, they auction them off to wholesalers just like they do any other usable asset.

2L2BMN (Too lazy to Bug Me Not) o I don’t know the specific, but so far I disagree with every proposal you mentioned. Destroying used guns? That’s akin to book burning in my world. Mandating the report of stolen guns? Generally a bad idea. More harmful than helpful imo. Ammo restrictions? Actually in Illinoi it’s all tied tot eh FOID card. Even havign ammo sans note from the nany state gets you jailed. So it’s plausible that it could be done, I’d just hate to see the mechanism they use. Plus I’m just not into prior restraint. RICO? Good Lord; when will they come up with a way they can’t distort that damned thing? If nothing else I’d oppose that on redundancy grounds, since every damned thing else is a RICO violation too. & stiffer penalties for gun trafficking? Hell no – that’d not only be a very anti-free market thing (which I’m generally opposed to) but it’d cut down on some decent deals. The FOPA came about cause the ATF abused the hell out of the non-licensed dealer provisions of the GCA of 68. Giving them a new law to enforce is like lighting a smoke as you’re pumping gas.

I’d hate to ask what the other provisions are.

I have proposed a detailed nine-point plan for controlling gun violence, including banning .50-caliber sniper rifles and handguns, and protecting our assault-weapons ban and childproof handgun law. My violence-protection program also includes:

I didn’t bother to read the rest.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
