Only in NY

It’s easy to make everyone a criminal, just pass stupid laws. This is the dumbest thing I’ve read in a while:

It’s an only in New York story. A woman was given a ticket for sitting on a park bench because she doesn’t have children.

It could lead to a one thousand dollar fine and 90 days in jail. That punishment, it seems so cruel and unusual. Or maybe the actual crime is just unusual. Feh.

I remember when we were coming back from a trip in Red America this spring and stopped in a rest area in New York State. There was a large sign there that listed the many rules and regulations governing the use of the rest area. Many were silly and ridiculous. My wife and I had the same thought simultaneously, we are not in America anymore.

I tried to post a comment at that site but got an error.

My point is that if she has the legal resources to push it, that law would be found illegal.
If she paid taxes that funded that park bench, then barring her from using it is discrimination.
It is a violation of her civil rights just as if the sign required a certain color or race.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
