On addiction

I don’t have a problem. I can stop whenever I want. Below is the latest kit and sack of parts I got:

sack of parts

Got it together and wanted to snap a pic. Since the camera is out, the dog decides he wants to pose too:

who's meaner?

The new addition meets his family:

boo, barry

Did I mention I bought some more mags? How many is enough?

    How many is enough?

    All of them?

    ๐Ÿ™‚

Do they not make a drum magazine?

    (I honestly don’t know)

  2. Dennis Says:

You have enough magazines when you cannot lift the combined weight of all the empty magazines you own for a particular rifle. In short, put all your empty mags in a sack. When you can’t lift the sack, you have enough.

They make a 100 round beta C mag but I have no desire to get one. 4 30 rounders wiegh less and hold more. Plus, 30 rounders go for about $10 and beta C sell for $230.

I am not even a big AR fan, but I am still a little green with envy.
Glad to see you are exercising your Second Amendment rights, not that I had any doubts!

  5. Robert Douglas Says:

I stopped buying AR mags when I hit around 60. I just figured that I wanted enough 20’s & 30’s to last the rest of my life, should I be in a situation where I would not be able to get any more in the future. Approach your buying very carefully. Magazine addiction is a bad thing.

  6. Jay G Says:

The drum magazines just look soooo much cooler (and scarier, too…) ๐Ÿ™‚

I like Dennis’ definition of too many, BTW.

  7. Heartless Libertarian Says:

What, exactly, is the new one?

  8. SayUncle Says:

It is my effort at building an AR for the lowes possible cost. About $580 total including shipping, taxes and crap.

    Model 1 kit
    Stag lower

16 inch, CAR with HBAR. Nothing fancy.

  9. tgirsch Says:

Hmm, in the fully assembled version, I don’t see the salt and pepper shakers. Are they inside the magazine? :^B

  10. Heartless Libertarian Says:

I think $580 is pretty close to what my 20″ A2 from J&T + Stag lower.

And I see it has the evil bayonet lug and flashsuppressor.

  11. ben Says:

where’d you get the kits from? How tough is it to put one of those together? It looks like you have a stripped lower receiver, how hard is it to put that part together? Tools?

  12. SayUncle Says:

Ben, go ar15.com forums for the tutorial. If you can drive a nail, you can assemble a lower. It takes a hammer, pliers, a punch (or blunted screwdriver/nail), allen wrench, screwdriver and patience to put together.

This particular kit came from model1 sales (http://www.model1sales.com)

The lower is a stag, which you can get from eagel (http://www.eaglefirearms.net/stag_arms.htm)

  13. Heartless Libertarian Says:

Dangit, now you’ve given me an itch for an Oly 10mm upper.

I’m trying to reduce my credit card debt, dangit.

  14. ben Says:

    cool, thanks

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
